Looks to me like an "anti-Islam" version of the Protocols of the Elders of Zion.

It strikes me that Larry Abraham's world-view is distorted, and certainly would only be credible if there was some evidence for these megalomaniacal assertions about Jihadists. Some of his descriptions of the Bush rationale (for example the inexplicable and implacable focus on Iraq) make sense to a certain degree, but he leaves a lot of desireable facts out of th eexplanation. I don't see much merit in being able to create an explanation based on sweeping cosmic generalities, and then claiming it as truth without detailed substantiation. Barring that I can only assume Mister Abraham has a prior bent tb be paranoid about Muslims.

I'd agree with Carol. The attitude is essentially the same.

The 'Protocols' were written as if written by Jews. I see no attempt of Mr. Abraham to convince us the writing comes from a Muslim. A bad comparison.

On the other hand, I agree that the author is full of hate and has a distorted world-view. But not every writing worldwide full of hate qualifies for comparison with the Protocols, for the reasons mentioned above.

There are documents from a fringe of Muslims which I find worrying and wish they could be compared to the Protocols in the sense of being forgeries.

Jihaad in the name of God

wherever an Islamic community exists which is a concrete example of the Divinely-ordained system of life, it has a God-given right to step forward and take control of the political authority so that it may establish the Divine system on earth...

But I have read similar stupidities from at least one other religion's fringe as well.

Wolfgang

Just a different way of packaging the same message - rather as if someone were to write an anti-semitic article, using tbe Protocols as the source. Or using selective quotes from a tendentious and distorted version of Jewish history and Jewish texts.

The essential thing in common is, propagating a way of seeing the world that casts a whole religious and ethnic community as conspiring to undermine civilised society.

Let me rephrase then, Wolfgang. It looks to me like the person who wrote "The New Caliphate" had a similar agenda to that of the person or people who wrote "The Protocols of the Elders of Zion".

Excuse me... hit submit too soon. A similar agenda, only with an anti-Islam slant, rather than an anti-Semitic slant.

Early in the article the author says:

"President Bush and his administration spokesmen are not telling the American people what they really need to know about this ' war.' "

That statement should represent some common ground for most Mudcat regulars.

What utter rubbish.

I'm going to go look for an article I read (Where??) that seemed to explain the bush administration's fixation on Iraq; it was a dispassionate explanation of why they felt it imperative to invade as soon as they felt the American people would stand for it. It had to do with the world as they perceive it and the developments they think would occur if the region had been left intact.

It could almost make one a believer in its necessity, when you buy into the premise that every country must inevitably pursue its self interest.
