Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Time Is Winding Up (Hazel Dickens) From: GUEST,Gerry Date: 06 Mar 20 - 12:49 AM There's also a recording by Babe Stovall on Folk Festival of the Smokies, Vol II [that's Two, not Eleven], Traditional Records FFS 529 (vinyl). He sings it at about twice the tempo of the recording on O Sister! And he plays his guitar while holding it behind his head and turning his back to the audience (and the microphones), resulting in what the liner notes refer to as a "compromise in sound quality". |
Subject: Lyr Add: TIME IS WINDING UP (from Hazel Dickens) From: Joe Offer Date: 11 May 04 - 10:17 PM It's a great song, but there's not much to the lyrics: Time, time, time is winding up. Time, time, time is winding up. Time, time, time is winding up. Your time is winding up. Brother, you better be praying For time is winding up Brother, you better be praying For time is winding up Brother, you better be praying For time is winding up Your time is winding up Father, you better be praying For time is winding up Father, you better be praying For time is winding up Father, you better be praying For time is winding up Your time is winding up Time, time, time is winding up. Time, time, time is winding up. Time, time, time is winding up. Your time is winding up. It's on the Rounder Heart of a Singer CD by Hazel Dickens, Carol Elizabeth Jones, and Ginny Hawker. The same recording is on the Rounder O Sister collection. It's a "keeper," but the words can be memorized in about 3-1/2 seconds. -Joe Offer- |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Time is Winding Up- Hazel Dickens From: BanjoRay Date: 10 May 04 - 12:26 PM They (Hazel, Ginny and Carol-Elizabeth) sound as though they're singing in a modal key - Ami, G and maybe C would be good chords to try out on it. Ray |
