To return a favour for me doing research on my aunt Rose's village history, she bought me a bottle of rose' wine (a blend of red and white wine, I think), and I cracked the bottle open last night, and had my first glass at room temperature, and it was good, and then I put the bottle and left it in the fridge for a while before I had a half glass of cold rose' wine, which had quite a bite, may I add. Has anyone tasted rose' wine before? It was funny that I first tasted rose' wine from my aunt Rose! Still! Oh! By the way, this is my first Non-Music thread. Check out my "Folklore: New Member" thread I created in the Music Threads section, dated 13th May 2004 at 8pm. US time.

I am drinking a half glass of refreshing rose' wine now at 3:28am UK time on 14th May 2004. I should be in bed! I am going now, to bed! Good Night!

I did have a cabernet wine once. It was good, too, Mudlark!

Chateau neuf du pape. Don't spend less than £15 a bottle. Buy two. Decant before drinking. Drink both. Fall over.

In the UK most Rosé wines are very ordinary, but In France very palatable Rosés are available, they just dont seem to export any, they are a Great Summers evening drink. The pinnacle of "interesting" (for me) Rosé was a Vintage Cava from Spain, look for "Brut Natur Rosado" on the label, It was a wonderful, mouthfilling, long finish, exciting tasting wine.
BTW Rosé is usually made by making white wine from red grapes and leaving the "must" (pressed grapes and juice) in contact with the skins for some time after pressing, If they are removed immediately you get "Blanc the Noirs" (white wine made from red grapes)

Micca - I just checked the bottle label and it said that it was from France. It taste great both at room temperature and from the fridge. I just got my hot water fixed and I asked the electrician whether he knows what you do with rose' wine, and he said to leave it in the fridge, which I did. It has quite a bite, as I said before, in the first message I started.

do a booze cruise to France and get your wine at rediculously cheap prices. Done three trips so far and got a nice "cellar " of about 150 bottles. Going again when it runs out. Might be sooner than you think!
Chateau neuf de Pap... got that for about 11 euros a bottle. Funny thing was I thought it was 11 Euros for the case! Got a lot of stick for that when I got back! Wonder why?
Le Chenney is a good buy at 1.40 Euros a bottle for the Merlot (best) and slighltly cheaper for the Cabernet. Got some nice Corbiere for less than 1euro a bottle perfectly drinkable.
If you go between Oct and March you can get very cheap crossings. Best one I got was £25 return for a car and five people. Left the people behind to get more wine in.

Good rose' from the US, Germany, Chile, and Australia too.

I've never noticed a bite to cold rose', but then my tastes in wine run to the less-than-imperfect labels.

Rose is sweet and wonderful served cold. It is awfull served at room temperature. If you drink red wine at room temperature, drink a merlot or a cabernet. If you don't have a clue drink Old Duke at any temperature!

Folkfan...don't know about UK or Europe, but here in the US, especially in wne country in california, White Zinfandel has largely usurped the "rosé" market. I agree with whomever said a good Fr. rose is worth drinking. But outside France those are few and far between. Most rosés seem to me to be for people that don't really like wine. That makes them a good choice, I guess, at a picnic, sort of like more sophisticated soda pop. Glad you found one to your taste. I think traditionally it is served chilled.
