Subject: RE: Chord Req: Anniversary Song(Waltz) and Atchison, From: GUEST,Seaking Date: 22 May 04 - 06:21 PM I can do the chords for you if you can post the lyrics to one of the verses for me, it's a long time since I played this and some of the words have gone.. Just to be sure it's the same song, the version I know starts 'Oh how we danced on the night we were wed....' and the chorus goes 'Dear as I held you close in my arms...' |
Subject: RE: Chord Req: Anniversary Song(Waltz) and Atchiso From: Helen Date: 22 May 04 - 08:11 PM We have discussed this song before and there is some interesting information in that thread. I found it in a Google.com search, and interestingly enough my entry to the thread was the one that came up in Google. A circular reference? :-) Tune Req: Oh how we danced... (Anniversary Song) I'll just go & look for my book of waltzes and copy the chords out of that. It's piano arrangements but I am sure the chords will make sense on other instruments. - sorry, just got told by hubby that I have to go & visit relatives. I will do it later today, though. Helen |

Subject: Lyr/Cho Add: THE ANNIVERSARY SONG (Jolson/Chaplin) From: Helen Date: 22 May 04 - 11:12 PM From a book called Treasury of Waltzes, published by Albert Publications (in Australia, and this book would be from about late 60's). I have to confess I haven't tried these chords, because my piano playing is still very basic, and there are too many accidentals to try these songs out on my lever harp, but, for what it is worth, here they are: ANNIVERSARY SONG Based on a theme by Ivanovici. By Al Jolson & Saul Chaplin Oh, how we danced B7 On the night we were wed Em We vowed our true love Am Am Though a word wasn't said B7 Em B7 B+ B7 Em The world was in bloom B7 There were stars in the skies Em Except for the few Am Em That were there in your eyes B7 Em Dear, as I held you D9 So close in my arms C G Angels were singing D7 A hymn to your charms C6 G Two hearts gently beating B7 Were murmuring low Cdim Em B7 "My darling, I love you so." Am Am6 Em-Edim B7 Em |
