Subject: Some shameless self-promotion: --seed From: BSeed Date: 15 Oct 98 - 12:34 AM Gotcha with that one, I hope. Hey, Mudcateers, I've been posting plugs of my thread Missing Mudcat blues to as many different threads as I could imagine a connection, but you are all staying away in droves. Max finally checked in wondering why I had left his name out (I hadn't), and Joe Offer added a link but no comment. I don't deal well with rejection, guys. --seed |
Subject: RE: Some shameless self-promotion: --seed From: Bill in Alabama Date: 15 Oct 98 - 06:30 AM Seed-- Thanks for the reference in your piece. As Grandpa used to sing, "'tis sweet to be remembered." Not being a blues musician, and having very limited time to visit Mudcat, I don't generally follow the blues threads, so I didn't know that I had been immortalized in song. much obliged. Subject: RE: Some shameless self-promotion: --seed From: Frank in the swamps Date: 15 Oct 98 - 07:50 AM You captured my withdrawal anxiety to a "T". But I thought I was supposed to keep my mouth shut! I take things too literally I guess! Frank in the quiet, quiet swamps. |
Subject: RE: Some shameless self-promotion: --seed From: Bill D Date: 15 Oct 98 - 11:52 AM hmmmppfff.... LOTS of us don't deal well with rejection! I was not mentioned, so I went elsewhere....oh, never mind...it's ok..I'm used to it..*snfff*..... (you know, I was once ignored by the Salvation Army band!! Listened politely to their whole concert, and when they stopped and went around to misister to the 7-8 people watching, they went to everyone except me...*tsk*..maybe it's my breath..not enough alcohol on it..) |
Subject: RE: Some shameless self-promotion: --seed From: BSeed Date: 15 Oct 98 - 12:02 PM Bill D. and anyone else I left out: My sincerest apologies: Most of the people in the song were posters to the threads I've been populating (I left out a couple, mainly because the threads were down at the time I went hunting for names and I didn't come across them in the couple of lists I checked: most notably Takeo in Nagoya and that grouchy old Gargoyle. I'll start keeping a list for my next Mudcat song. It was fun writing, and I'm glad Mudcateers are finally checking it out. --seed |
Subject: RE: Some shameless self-promotion: --seed From: Barry Finn Date: 15 Oct 98 - 12:45 PM Hi BSeed, thanks for the kind words & thoughts, missed you too. I try not to react anymore when the Cat goes down, I took a crash course & feel all the better for it, I now play marbles & mumble to myself during down times & this way the family knows I'm ok too, just a matter of time, till it's back up & I'm better again. Subject: RE: Some shameless self-promotion: --seed From: Pete M Date: 15 Oct 98 - 06:01 PM Hi Seed, thanks for the song, sorry I missed it earlier, like Bill I overlooked the thread as the blues are not an main area of interest. You got the mood wonderfully though, my finger tips are just about healing, but the dog's complaining, she never gets so many walks when the Mudcat is up. I also noticed this strange woman and two overgown louts wandering around the house, they claim to have known me before I found the 'Cat! all the best Pete M |
Subject: RE: Some shameless self-promotion: --seed From: Barbara Date: 15 Oct 98 - 07:31 PM Hey seed, I decided the path to true enlightenment is to take as few things personally as I possibly can. I was pleased and flattered to be included in your blues, and I sat down, what, the night before last to write an additional verse saying something like, "When the 'Cat is down and we're all left with too much time, Max is up and working overtime." And then our @#%^&* dog snatched up the coaxial cable out to my studio, gave it a good hard yank, (out there in the dark, in the pouring rain) disconnected my service, and then my SO walked out to see why I wasn't answering the phone and fell over the cable, removing it from the hookup entirely, and I just now finished reinstalling the sucker. I still have to bury the line, though. And it would be smart to do that. Thank you for writing those blues, and thank you for including me. Love and blessings, and a hug, as soon as I get rid of the grease and insulation. Did you know that UG cable wire is packed in grease? I didn't... till now... Barbara |
Subject: RE: Some shameless self-promotion: --seed From: BSeed Date: 17 Oct 98 - 03:51 AM Barbara, I just came across this again and, now that I've got over the hurt of not hearing from half of the people in the song ;(- (did I tell you I have a cleft chin?) I was struck in my rereading by the realization that you have an SO! No! I hoped I was the one. ;-) (did you notice the way my frown covers up my nose?) --seed Maybe this is a bit more clear. |
Subject: RE: Some shameless self-promotion: --seed From: Barbara Date: 17 Oct 98 - 11:23 AM Hey seed, they tell me ginseng is good for the memory. I don't think it was more than a couple weeks back that you were offering to swap spouses with me. Something about their refueling tolerances, remember? So which did you forget about first? Yours or mine?(grin) And you're down there in the wilds of Berzerkeley, aren't you? Since when has anyone there believed in ...or practiced... monogamy? Is it PC? I doubt it. So, that's cute dimple, and a cool song, and my blessings, Barbara. |
Subject: RE: Some shameless self-promotion: --seed From: Roger Himler Date: 17 Oct 98 - 12:34 PM Seed, Thanks for the mention. I do miss the 'Cat when it's not around, and I miss it when I am not around as well. I have been in and out the last week or so, and I have just sort of brushed through the Mudcat, making quick posts when I can, so I missed reading your first thread. I miss you, too when the 'Cat is down. Roger in Baltimore |
Subject: RE: Some shameless self-promotion: --seed From: BSeed Date: 17 Oct 98 - 02:50 PM Actually, Barbara, although we both work in Berkeley, we live in El Cerrito. Only half the people in our neighborhood are divorced--I don't know how many fool around. My wife and I just celebrated our 33rd anniversary (somehow we manage to tolerate each other--though it's often hard, particularly for her). I have to admit I can be very trying at times. Our son and our dogs (and some kind of strange mutual attraction) keep us together. --seed |
