Subject: Lyr Req: The Tears They Fell Like Rain From: Rabbi-Sol Date: 23 Jun 04 - 12:06 AM This song must have been popular about 25 years ago, about a young girl who had a crush on an older boy. He thought she was too young for him, but later on after he moved away, he realized how much he loved her. When he finally returned, he found that she was married to his best friend. The first lines of the chorus were " Jimmy won't you wait for me; We'll be married, don't you see; Saving all my kisses just for you". That is all I remember of the words. The girl sang the chorus and the boy sang the narrative stanzas. The girl sings the final stanza when she tells him that she married his best friend, John, in his absence. SOL ZELLER |

Subject: Lyr Add: DON'T CRY JONI (Conway Twitty) From: M.Ted Date: 23 Jun 04 - 07:16 PM I think this is what you want, Sol-- DON'T CRY JONI By: Conway Twitty and Joni Lee Female: Jimmy please say you'll wait for me. I'll grow up some day you'll see. Saving all my kisses just for you. Signed with love forever true. Male: Joni was a girl who lived next door. I've known her I guess ten years or more. Joni wrote me a note one day, And this is what she had to say: Female: "Jimmy please say you'll wait for me. I'll grow up some day you'll see. Saving all my kisses just for you. Signed with love forever true." Male: Slowly I read her note once more. Then I went over to the house next door. Her teardrops fell like rain that day, when I told Joni what I had to say: "Joni, Joni please don't cry. You'll forget me by and by. You're just fifteen, I'm twenty-two, and Joni I just can't wait for you." Soon I left our little home town. Got me a job and tried to settle down, but these words kept haunting my memory, the words that Joni said to me: Female: "Jimmy please say you'll wait for me. I'll grow up some day you'll see. Saving all my kisses just for you. Signed with love forever true." Male: I packed my clothes and I caught a plane. I had to see Joni, I had to explain, How my heart was filled with her memory, and ask my Joni if she'd marry me. I ran all the way to the house next door, but things weren't like they were before. My teardrops fell like rain that day, when I hear what Joni had to say: Female: "Jimmy, Jimmy please don't cry. You'll forget me by and by. It's been five years since you've been gone. Jimmy, I married your best friend John." You can listen to it here Don't Cry Joni |
