I don't know who the song is originally by, but I love the Baez version :). Does anyone know the chords, I'm not very good at transcribing them. Thanks :)

The song was collected by Rev. Baring Gould from a man who was working on the Burrator Reservoir at Sheepstor on Dartmoor in 1894. It has 6 verses in the original with an extra one given in the appendix of Songs of the West. The original manuscript is in Plymouth library but if you contact The Wren Trust in Okehampton, they have all of Baring Gould's Collection on microfiche, including many previously unpublished collection notebooks, and they may have variants. You could also contact Martin Graebe in Cheltenham as he knows more about the collection than anyone else on this planet...and he's a nice guy!

This may be a little closer:

Queen Of Hearts    Traditional

Capo 2nd fret

(Em) To the (C)queen of (Em)hearts he’s the (B7)ace of (Em)sorrow,
He's (C)here to(B7)day, he's gone to(Em)morrow.
Young (C)men are (Em)plenty, but (B7)sweethearts (Em)few,
If (C)my love (B7)leaves me, what shall I (Em)do?

Had (C)I the (Em)store in (B7)yonder moun(Em)tain
Where (C)gold and (B7)silver is there for coun(Em)ting,
I (C)could not (Em)count for (B7)thought of (Em)thee,
My (C)eyes so (B7)full, I could not (Em)see.

I (C)love my (Em)father, I (B7)love my (Em)mother,
I (C)love my (B7)sister, I love my (Em)brother,
I (C)love my (Em)friends and (B7)relatives (Em)too,
I'll for(C)sake them (B7)all and go with (Em)you.

To the (C)queen of (Em)hearts he’s the (B7)ace of (Em)sorrow,
He's (C)here to(B7)day, he's gone to(Em)morrow.
Young (C)men are (Em)plenty, but (B7)sweethearts (Em)few,
If (C)my love (B7)leaves me, what shall I (Em)do?

This is Joan Baez’ version.

Cynthia Gooding does a great version which if you find on mp3, I want. Same tune, one or two more verses maybe.
