I want to hear from any and all folkies interested in joining me to welcome Alaska Mike to town, drink some free beer, maybe eat some hot dogs or some such, and pick and sing the summer afternoon away.

Location: My small but pleasant back yard in San Diego (University City area)
Time: July 18th, Sunday, from 1300 (1:00 PM) on to around 6:00.

PM me if you can make it and I'll get you directions. We are five minutes off I-5 at La Jolla, just East of there.

Looking forward to some picking and arm-waving and singing!

Well, we had a right fine day twittering away the hours and chiming out the songs, and throwing back the dark stuff. Lessee -- we had Nicole and Alaska Mike and Amos and Banjoest from the Cat, and Davey Lad the Blues Harpist and Darrell the Good Ole Boy Picker and Singer, from the not-yet-catters side, as well as several attentive audiencettes. And Alaska Mike is one hell of a performer and a joy to hear, especially when he pipes up with his own rare and wonderful material. We all sang for hours, and I musta lost my voice three times!

All in all it was a hoot and many thanks to all who made it, especially those who came from so far away -- Mike and Nicole.

I'll get some photos over to Pene Azul as soon as I find them!!

Wow, did I ever miss out! I've been out of touch for a while and thought I'd see what I had missed. Guess I should have broken into my daughter computer sooner. I'm now if the Fairbanks, Alaska area and yes Alaska Mike and I have e-mail a bit. He given me some good hints for around here. Glad you had a great time and I'll bet those salmon steaks where great.
I'll be in San Diego area the first 2 weeks in August. Is there anything going on around then? bet

My great thanks to Amos and Daly for hosting such a fine FolkenSplurgen. I had a terrific time singing away the afternoon. It was a pleasure to meet and sing with Nicole, Hugh, Darrel, Dave and the rest of the folks who joined in the fun. Great food, great friends, great music! I only hope it doesn't take me long to return to sunny San Diego and see you all again.
