The tune was used for the early series of Felix the Cat. Anybody know if it had words? I have a midi.

Should have looked a little harder... Was very big in London in 1923, so they say...

VERSE 1: There's a funny little cat
With a tummy nice and fat.
He's won picture fame . . .
Felix is his name.
Has a funny little walk Whiskers on his chin;
And, no matter where he goes Or what occurs to him . . .

CHORUS 1A: Felix keeps on walking, keeps on walking still.
With his hands behind him,
You will always find him.
Blew him up with dynamite, but him they couldn't kill.
Miles up in the air he flew,
He just murmured "Toodle-oo!"
Landed down in Timbuctoo,
And kept on walking still.

CHORUS 1B: Felix kept on walking, kept on walking still.
One day he was collar'd
By a whale, and swallowed.
In the tummy of that whale he found himself, but still,
All the same he never frown'd,
He just smiled and then look'd round,
Thought it was the "Underground"
And kept on walking still.

VERSE 2: Way out on a desert isle,
Felix met a crocodile.
It just gave a cough,
Blew his whiskers off.
Then he walk'd for miles and miles Till his feet were raw,
Thought he'd have a rest, but then a lion there he saw!

CHORUS 2A: Felix kept on walking, kept on walking still.
Cannibals then caught him,
Tasty bit they thought him.
Skinned him like a rabbit, he was so "cut up" until
A native's scalp he noticed there,
Stuck it on where he felt bare,
Raised his hat and said "There's hair"
And kept on walking still.

CHORUS 2B: Felix kept on walking, kept on walking still.
By a train at Dover,
Had his tail run over,
On the rail he left his tail, it gave the folks a thrill,
Still for that, he didn't care.
Though he had no rudder there,
Wagged his "nothing" in the air,
And kept on walking still.

VERSE 3: He's so full of funny tricks,
Fed some sawdust to the chicks,
Now instead of eggs . . .
They lay table legs.
On poor Auntie's powder puff "Hair restorer" placed,
Then when he saw Auntie put that Tatcho on her face . . .

CHORUS 3A: Felix kept on walking, kept on walking still.
Now poor Auntie Eva
Has a full grown "beaver"
On the tiles he went last night, those tabby cats to thrill,
Met a Frenchy cat named Lou,
She said "Do you parley vous?"
He said, "Yes, but not with you,"
And kept on walking still.

CHORUS 3B: Felix kept on walking, kept on walking still.
Someone tried to drown him,
with a brick tied round him.
Shoved him in the rain-tub there, but him they couldn't kill,
Started lapping with his tongue
Till that water all was done
Then he crept out through the "bung"
And kept on walking still.

FINISHING TAG: Kept on walking, kept on walking,
Kept on walking still. Mee-ow!

FELIX KEEPS ON WALKING, performed by the Savoy Havana Band, appears on the various-artists album "The Wibbly Wobbly Walk," Saydisc CD 350, 1995. I listened to a sound sample at allmusic, and the part I heard was all instrumental.

This is the way my Mother remembers some of it from the twenties :

Felix kept on walking, kept on walking still.
With his hands behind him, you would always find him.
Blow him up with dynamite, but him you couldn't kill.
Miles up into the air he flew,
He just shouted "Toodle-oo!"
Landed down in Timbuctoo, but he kept on walking still.

Felix had a baby, had a baby boy,
He was like his Daddy, so they called him Paddy,
Paddy died,
Felix cried,
The funeral was at half past five,
But he kept on walking still.

From my mother:

Felix kept on walking, kept on walking still
With his hands behind him, you would always find him
Blow him up with dynamite, but him they could not kill
Through the air Felix flew
Landed right in Timbucto
Found there was nothing to do
So he kept on walking still

Felix had a baby, had a baby boy
He was like his Daddy, so they called him Paddy
Felix got the chicken pox and Paddy got the flu
Paddy died, Felix cried
Went to the funeral for the ride
Found there was no room inside
So he kept on walking still

My mum and gran always sang it like this:

Felix kept on walking, kept on walking still
With his hands behind his back, you would always find him
Blow him up with dynamite, but him they could not kill
Through the air Felix flew
He just shouted "Toodle-oo!"
Landed down in Timbuctoo
but he kept on walking still.

Felix had a baby, had a baby boy.
and he called him Paddy, because his like hes daddy,
Paddy got the whooping cough, Felix got the flu,
Paddy died, Felix cried,
he went to the funeral just for the ride,
but he kept on walking still.

My recollection was as follows:

Felix had a baby, had a baby boy.
He was like his daddy, so they called him Paddy.
Paddy took the whooping cough and Felix got the flu,
Paddy died, Felix cried,
Sat by the fireside,
Went to the funeral at half past five
but he keeps on walking still.
Keeps on walking, keeps on walking, keeps on walking still.

The link that Joe Offer gave earlier is now dead, but you can see the sheet music at The National Library of Australia.

The lyrics are substantially the same as what The Fooles Troupe posted above, except that chorus 2A, line 5 uses a different n-word, not "native."
