Subject: BS: Hesperis writing a novel From: hesperis Date: 26 Jul 04 - 01:55 PM Sorry, it's not the mudcat one... but it IS in a fantasy setting involving Elves, Faery, Dragons, Humans, and some other races! It is probably going to be at an adult level due to some sexuality as well as violence, and incorporates the ideas of various people involved in a multi-author fiction we're been doing for 2-3 years now. I'm co-writing the novel adaptation of it all with my fiance, starting from the prehistory stuff, and it has several rather original world-building ideas, plus some great characters and story twists. Hopefully the sex and violence and evil isn't gratuitous... we try to keep it fitting with the story. This will be a rather large series if we can get the first book published. We passed 10,000 words today on the first novel. 10,528 to be precise. My own character is introduced already, she's a 200-year-old part Dragon, part Faerie, and part Human. My guy already has some other stuff written that will integrate into the story later so there's actually more words than that! :D We're aiming for 100,000 and estimate that we can do it in about three months. Hopefully. After that we start adapting the first part of the multi-author fic rather than just writing prehistory. I just hope we can afford rent for that long, and that my health holds up. Heh. |

Subject: RE: BS: Hesperis writing a novel From: GUEST,MMario Date: 26 Jul 04 - 02:46 PM well, duh - obviously you need readers if you are trying to write a successful novel - what I meant was do you need beta-readers. |

Subject: RE: BS: Hesperis writing a novel From: Little Hawk Date: 26 Jul 04 - 07:27 PM See if you can work William Shatner into the plot somewhere. :-) (He is usually willing to take pretty well any part he can get.) |

Subject: RE: BS: Hesperis writing a novel From: hesperis Date: 27 Jul 04 - 12:23 AM We don't have a publisher or agent lined up yet - if any 'catters know some big names in fantasy and rpg-style fiction that would be great! lol LH - Pfffffft. (Although, hey... Shatner can probably play Lord Bierhoff... I'd like to see that just to see the character owner's face when he finds out that SHATNER is playing his character! HEE!) |

Subject: RE: BS: Hesperis writing a novel From: Little Hawk Date: 27 Jul 04 - 12:31 AM He would probably be horrified! :-) Most people just don't get Bill's uniquely styled approach to drama. Am I correct in assuming that Lord Bierhoff likes to imbibe copiously? |

Subject: RE: BS: Hesperis writing a novel From: hesperis Date: 27 Jul 04 - 10:28 AM Copiously indeed, but he can handle it, and has an appreciation for the finer points of beer... which I completely fail to appreciate. In the story the character is a minor Lord who has founded a guild of heroes. |
