Raggytash, it goes without saying that I agree with your view about the abuse, but that's not the point. As I made clear, my concern was about how this forum is managed.

To repeat, I raised a question about comments (now deleted) in this thread at the time, and I am not impressed by the way the problem was subsequently addressed. The issue about whether Mudcat should be, or indeed is, censored has long been a legitimate subject for debate. I happen to believe it would be irresponsible to operate a totally hands-off policy. But where content is deleted, it is duplicitous to pretend that it has not been. To maintain that deception where the deleted content has provoked comment is just stupid.

I expressed my concern in this thread because this is where the problem manifested itself. I thought this would be less contentious than creating a separate thread, but on reflection maybe a separate thread is what was needed.

It has every reason to concern me, someone I know is being abused with little chance of a reasonable reply.
My view is quite simple, the Mudcat is no place for gratuituosly slagging another person, especially when the perpetrators do not even have the guts to place their name against their comments. Why you choose to raise the subject yet again is puzzling to say the least or perhaps voyeuristic

Raggytash, generators of threads have no more responsibility than anyone else, so please try to be a bit less proprietorial. .

I asked at the time for this thread to be edited. I have now regretted that the editing was not done intelligently. Unless you have a view on this particular point then the matter need not concern you.

Peter

AS the generator of this thread, I have to ask you why you feel it necessary to bring up an issue that not only has been deleted but has not been refered to for over 10 days. I can only assume you are trying to shit stir and that being the case you you kindly piss off and do it elsewhere.
Should you take offence to this I am quite willing to discuss it with you personally

Gratuitously offensive comments about someone called Dave/David have been removed from this thread. That is good. They should never have been posted. But it is a deception for the censor to have done so without showing his/her hand, and careless to leave in two references to those now non-existent comments. Far better, and much less underhand, to have noted where deletions were made, with a simple explanation of why intervention was appropriate.

Great trip! Thanks for organising it and good luck to the lifeboat crew.

A huge Thank you from the Committee and Crew of the Runswick Bay Rescue Boat, you raised just shy of £97.15 on the afternoon which was duly rounded to £100 then on Wednesday Ben May slipped a fiver into my hand to add to the total. I took this amount to Runswick on Wednesday evening and on my back called at the Tap & Spile, where Red and White Rabbit called for a whip round when she sang the song "The Eighth Wreck" she then gave me the resultant £30 to add to the coffers of the Rescue Boat. I took this up on Saturday and passed it to one of the Committee Penny Pinkney who was so amazed at the generousity of the wonderful people who are my friends and compatriates. From myself all I can say is Thank you once again for your kindness and consideration of the great selfless work carried out by Life Boat Crews everywhere and Runswick Bay in particular

Oh Rabbit, the lyrics are quite unequivocal "the girl I love is on that train and GONE"
She's gone, the trains gone, all the little travellers are gone, the platform is empty (except for the basket of flowers hanging from an old rusty nail)

PS You shall have my Babies, by the way, do you like Madiera me dear?

whose arguing just because Raggy is reading too much into a song when the lyrics definitely dont say that the train has gone let alone any sh*t about guards and sandmen - Raggy get a grasp on reality here the song says it arrived not that it left!right?

now as for the more important things what about me having your babies Raggy I like to eat them from the bottom up that way you get to watch their faces when you bite em in half!

The train is rolling down the track
Listen to the wheels go clickety click
Over the bridge around the bend
Taking me for a ride.

The engine's up the front of the train
Pulling all the cars through the sun & the rain
Over the bridge around the bend
Taking me for a ride.

There El Ted does that make sence, not sure who wrote it but it weren't Dylan.

The Saints preserve us

The song says quite clearly

"the girl I love is on THAT train and gone"

She climbed on board the bloody thing, the platform man waved his flag, blew his whistle, the driver stuck it in gear and chuffed out of the bleedin' station

and no doubt some time later the sandman swung his soddin' lantern to show that all was piggin' alright ....... right

As the Romans would say "Dylan my arseium" this song goes back to at least the mid 19 century, recorded by the Carter Family in the 1930's Woody Guthrie in the 1940's etc etc

Susan Sweetie ....... are you sitting down, good girl, now then ....... the train arrived at the station(choo choo) and the little girl got on it, and then the train left the station (with the little girl on it, choo choo)

thus

the train arrived it's twenty one coaches long
the girl I love is on that train and gone

By the way, I've got some sweeties

That (the ddownstairs room) was agreed with the previous landlord and mentioned in an earlier thread, however last weekend when I spoke to the new landlord, Graham, he said it was full of his furniture, obviously he has now moved it, I think we may end up using both up and down stairs as I have a feeling there will be a lot of people

Looking forward to seeing you and Penny and savouring my glass of sherry (although Cider would make an adequate substitute ! )

Time goes by when you're a driver of a train
And you sit on the footplate there & back again
Under bridges, Over bridges to our destination
Puffing through the countryside there so much to be seen
Passengers waving as we steam through the station
Stoke up fireman for the signal is at green.

Time goes by when you're a driver of a train
And you sit on the footplate there & back again
In the cutting through the tunnel
Rushing clanking on the track
Whizing pistons, smoking funnel
Turning wheels go clickerty clack

Time goes by when you're a driver of a train
And you sit on the footplate there & back again

OK Boys and Girls, Please lets get back to the thread, I understand people have various opinions about David but this is not the place to air them. If anyone has a grievance with him I think they should at least discuss it with him personally as opposed to putting nameless threads on a web-site, which I am led to believe he he doesn't access anyway (possibly because of the slating he gets)

This thread is supposed to be about a geat day out on the 22nd August 2004 when we all catch a train from Whitbyat 12.36 to go to the Arncliffe Arms at Glaisdale for a few hours of singing and making merry, so please can we return to that

George you have a lot to answer for, I expect more than one pint in recompense

They dragged her dead from Tobermory
too cheap to spare her one last head of steam
it's dark inside this evil place
clouds on the Moon hide her disgrace
the Whiskey hides my own

It's the last watch on the Midland
the last watch alone
one last night to love her
the last night she's home

What the hell have you done Dave to deserve all the stick your taking.

Are you sure you want to come out of hiding. It's a long way back if you get thrown off the train!
