Subject: BS: Macabre french country roads From: Arnie Date: 12 Aug 04 - 05:17 PM Anyone driven through France recently? It's chilling to use their country roads as I found out last week. On stretches of road where there have been road fatalities, they erect almost life-sized black people models. These stand in sad, forlorn little groups of 2 or 3, or alone, marking the spot where some poor sod met his/her end. They seem to dare you to overtake and come and join their little roadside party! It gets worse as you drive further south, first they paint blood on the black peoples' heads, then they give them hearts saying " I was 18 yrs old" or whatever age at the time of death. It certainly put me off overtaking but didn't seem to have much effect on the French who still insisted on high-speed tailgating and overtaking lines of traffic before blind bends. Why can't they just have speed cameras like everyone else? What a chilling experience and it must be even worse if someone in the village is a friend or relative of one of the 'black people'...... |

Subject: RE: BS: Macabre french country roads From: GUEST,Laurent at work Date: 13 Aug 04 - 06:36 AM Dave, the word in "macabre". We had so many people, mostly young ones, who have been killed on the roads, because of alcohol and speed and the habit in France to think rules apply only for others. We venture our life each time we take our car. If French people are appalled by some British Ads which show accidents, those models are a way our government found to say : "Slow down!" |
