John the Harp is a mandolin teacher, send a PM to Harpmaker, he lives just round corner from The Sun,
he's probably in Whitby now though for Folk Week.

Kate

We start at 8.30 and Tom leads an ensemble tunes session for an hour. Then we have the usual play round the room session until closing time.

Roger

Thanks Linda. She didn't tell me. I'll give you a call over the next week. Planning to try and get to some music sessions. If the Barton or Rawcliffe ones are happening next week I'm hoping to go over to one of them. Do you fancy coming along?

Roger - good to know about that. I'll definitely make it over when I've made a bit of progress. What time does it start?

Sttaw - thanks for the recomendation.

I seem to remember a guy giving mandolin lessons from Hessle Music shop - I didn't know him but maybe worth checking it out.

I'm glad about that Linda.

Kate, our Tuesday session is a more general workshop led by Tom on the concertina. I'm usually the only one there with a mandolin - and you wouldn't want to learn all my self-taught bad habits. You are more than welcome to come anyway, if you wish.

Roger

That sounds great Ted. I think I'm a bit before the begginers stage even but that might be something for the future. Maybe he knows some teachers as well.

Dunno about a teacher but Sir Roger de Beverley runs an informal beginners session (dare Isay that?) at The Sun inn in Beverley on a tuesday night. Roger, are you out there?

Just wondering if anyone knows a good mandolin teacher in or around Hull. I bought the lovely instrument a while ago and have been really hoping to learn it but I need a bit of a kick start. I want to be able to play in sessions at some point in the future. I'll need to be someone patient as I'm certainly not a natural!
