Thought you'd like to know that programme is now available- Mick Ryan & Pete Harris all weekend & Mick leading a songwriting workshop/discussion Sat afternoon- Sara grey- Vikki & Trefor Williams-Marion Button in concert on Sat in the Rainbow room- Barden of England running singaround Sat eve, Bo & some other guy running sat lunchtime session in 8 bells...Julie Ellison...sounds like a busy one!

Well Mr Synbyn - I'll be along to the Bo Foakes and 'He who cannot be named' session in the Eight Bells on Saturday lunchtime as Alan has given me the afternoon off. What a lovely man!!

Is there going to be another Saturday afternoon (and on till past midnight) session like there was last year ?.   Linda and I are thinking of just coming down for Saturday this year (sans caravan) as we are planning to go to Banbury the following weekend.

The 8 bells session is billed to end around 2.30- but i guess this is nominal, depends who's there.
Mr B's singaround is elsewhere in the evening (White Lion?), so again i guess it depends who's where and who starts anything...
Marion Button (who sings the English Tradition thread)is on 5pm in the Rainbow room.
Nice to see Dead Horse at Faversham in the Chinese Restuarant-fortunately not the menu...

If I have my way then the session at the Eight Bells on Saturday could well beat the pevious record of nearly 13 hours.
I wasn't there all the time last year as my duties called me elsewhere but it was really great to see it still in full flow while the landlord was trying to tell us that he wanted to go to bed!
To Barden and Bryant: as you can see I am now a "Catter"   You always told me to join up and here I am. No ill effects so far....... < :"{*!xx$ !!

I'm too far from the china clay but I might bring you a bit of granite from the moor if I can get it through customs. They are getting hot down here, a tourist was stopped at the border with more than pasties than could be "for his own consumption".

That's only because he was trying to take them back Bo!!!

3 years ago I did two 15hr sessions and none that lasted less then 12hrs in the Bedford during Sidmouth week. As I'm getting older now I've reduced them a bit - the extra 2 hrs now required for sleep, but you're right synbyn, big bits of Bluetack make all the difference.

Good-o - but there's so much going on- much more than in previous years- I was in Hastings last night & a Sussex lot were looking for somewhere to play melodeons and all, so expect they'lladd a bit of chunter...

We've always managed to accommodate musicians as well as singers in the Eight Bells session - as long as they don't try to take it over completely. We should be bringing Freda Underhill's friend Rosie wit us on Saturday as well. Looking forward to seeing all the usual supects there.

He's doing the Saturday session from 'ish to 'ish with Bo. I'm doing Friday 8:30 to 11pm at the Eight Bells, then Saturday 8:30 to 11pm at the White Lion. That means I can come and be noisy at the Eight Bells during the day on Saturday - only one day to go!

Well the Eight Bells session went on until nearly midnight. We had a group of Victory Morris plus, Pete Collins, Malcolm Ward, and many other exellent singers in the evening bash, so it was a great session.

The landlord was very complimentary - well, he sold out of 3 of the four brands of beer that he started with - thank god he still had London Pride on at the end !

Thanks to everyone who sang throughout the day and helped to make it another marathon event.

A big, big thank you to all the dance teams who attended this year. You made my job as dance MC easy. From the Town Hall right down the High Street was one mass of colour, music and dance. And that was before the procession!

I had a great time. Thanks go to all of you who came to the Eight Bells on Friday evening, and to the White Lion on Saturday evening - boy was I glad that we held it in the Saddlery rather than in the bar - we wouldn't have heard ourselves. I'm already looking forward to next year.

Yea again- thanks to all who kept it up all weekend! I had to leave the 8 Bells to host a songwriter's workshop with Mick Ryan(if ever you get the chance to take part in one of those with Mick, grab it- so much that was useful and thoughtprovoking, and because Mick threw a couple of his own songs up for discussion & welcomed the resposes, which were honest, it wasn't a lecture, and the participants were generous in allowing everyone else their say)- and by the time that had finished & I'd had some grub, there was no chance of getting back into the Bells! Mr B's session in the Saddlery was also nicely laid back- again, so many performers who like others to join in with them, which is surely what our kind of music is about. So thanks for the atmosphere, Mr B! I think this year was the best yet, there seems to be a momentum about the event, and a lot of goodwill. Good venue now for the Friday concert, too.
