From: Bruce

This one is also by Tom Springfield--Sorry about the typo last time. I'll have a listen to the song when I get home to verify the lyrics.

I'LL NEVER FIND ANOTHER YOU

There's a new world somewhere
They call The Promised Land
And I'll be there some day
If you will hold my hand
I still need you there beside me
No matter what I do
For I know I'll never find another you

There is always someone
For each of us they say
And you'll be my someone
For ever and a day
I could search the whole world over
Until my life is through
But I know I'll never find another you

It's a long, long journey
So stay by my side
When I walk through the storm
You'll be my guide, be my guide

If they gave me a fortune
My treasure would be small
I could lose it all tomorrow
And never mind at all
But if I should lose your love, dear
I don't know what I'll do
For I know I'll never find another you

instrumental interlude

But if I should lose your love, dear
I don't know what I'll do
For I know I'll never find another you

Another you, another you

I received a tape not long ago with the Carter Sisters and Mother Maybelle singing this song. A great tune. Great lyrics.

I remember when this song was a hit in the UK, hearing someone request it for their father who was out lambing.

From: Art Thieme

I do think the actual title to this song is "I Know I'll Never Find Another EWE"

One more animal husbandry song from where the men are men and the sheep are nervous. Not sheepish at all about sayin' this. Can't pull the wool over my eyes. Shear stupidity I'm thinkin'. I'd best take it on the lamb now!I'm heading into the sunset singing as I go---"Only EWE"...

Didn't mean to put ya through the ringer!

Tup of the morning to you Art. I know you are the 'Cat's whiskers so far as puns are concerned but there's no need to hogget. I was wondering as it took you so long if you had lost your bearing. You certainly had to dip deep for some of those, I suppose you have to have some knowledge of sheep to have a gimmer of understanding or else you'll fadge it.

G'day John et al,

Of course you need to be carefule where you play this song: there was the story of the specially hired, luxury sheep transporter bringing back the grand champion prize ram from the Royal Agricultural Society show in Sydney.

When the truck arrived at the stud farm, they opened the doors of the air-conditioned transporter and found the Ram dead ... battered to death by running up against the steel door! The grazier was appalled and demanded to know how the driver could let this happen.

The driver said "Well I did everything to make him comfortable and calm. I even played the cassette music into the transporter stereo.I did hear some banging noises along the Hume Highway, but they stopped after a while."

The Cocky says; "Well what was happening when you heard the banging?" Says the driver; "Nothing much, I was just listening to my favourite tape of the Seekers singing 'There Will Never Be Another You'".

Regard(les)s,

Bob Bolton

Wow! A post from the nearly legendary Art Thieme. I remeber sitting through a wonderful house party in Fulton, NYat the home of Lyman and Carolyn King listening to Art's music. If Utah Phillips is the Voice of the Great Gouthwest. Art is truly the Golden Voice of the Wisconsin Dells and Certain Parts of the Upper Penninsula. Definately a rumor in his own time. That was one of the best evenings music I have ever heard, size of the concert be bedamned.
