Just checking in..I'm home changing clothes on my way to work today..had to miss some of Sunnycamp..but it is really great. Anyone can still come at the last minute..just show up...Morehead Park in Nahcotta, WA. Weather has been mixed..a beautiful sunset and rainbow over the bay last night, torrential rains, now it is cloudy, bit of sun now and then. Not too cold. Great food so far with salmon dinner to come tonight. Great music last night..a group of 15 or so..every single person was so important to the music...

Hoping for a couple of cars coming from Portland today (with people in them we hope) and Olympia and hopefull Bonneville too. And St. Helens (Not Mt. )

See you all tonight. It is a really great weekend. mg

iT was just absolutely wonderful. Great music, a just-right size group of people, around 18 and then a few more on Sunday as others were leaving...logistics are so easy with smaller groups and each voice or instrument in the mix is so important. I do love the huge megacamps and go when I can but there is also something to be said for a small one. It could have been called Sunnycamp, Thundercamp, Hailcamp, Mistycamp, you name it. But we ended up the day today with absolutely gorgeous weather..the crew was outside playing away by the water....

Add to my list of suggestions for having a good camp: have someone not going to the camp come in and do the final cleanup and let people just stay and play and sing till the last minute. It sure took a great burden off me because most of the people did come from afar and I knew they could not stay and help clean and I did not have the get up and go to do that much of it.

Also, try and pay by the beds you use per night rather than having to have a set price...these camps are up and down in registration, more than usual as some of us get a bit older etc...the only way Sunnycamp can lose a lot of me (as in me personally) is to way overbuy food...but we have arrangements with local food programs and food banks etc. and just whisk the food (even some opened) to various places...it sure makes cleanup go much faster too...I highly recommend this approach...

I didn't forget , I just got stuck waiting for a morning appointment to hook us up to DSL that never showed. So we watched it rain all day. Sorry we did not make it.

I had a very relaxing time, and surely did need it! Since this was my first Sunnycamp, and I only knew a few people there, it was great to meet lots of new folks..,we had a lot to talk about. I, too, liked the smaller sized group. It aallowed me to meet and spend some time with nearly everyone. Went on a hike Saturday afternoon just north of the camp in the state park on Leadbetter (sic) Point, just north of Sunnycamp, and the sun came out for a while..it was warm .. had a pleasant companion.....lots of bird life and beach and forest trails. Then back for more songs and then a fine salmon dinner (nice fish you got, Mary!) I was compelled to run up the road to the market for just the right wine...and found it at half the price I would have paid for it in Seattle. Dinner followed by concert by many of the participants doing a song apiece......then general singing for a few hours. Nice fireplace with fire burning all the time. Sunday AM early songs around the fire then big breakfast! Then with the sun out, I took a walk over to the oyster plant and watched the dredgers coming and going....then back for a bit more music before heading home (four hour drive). Would have liked to have stayed a little longer since the box players were arriving just as I was leaving, but got names for a future meeting. Enjoyed it alot..and will be there next year!!

It was great, constant music, the lodge had wonderful accoustics for a small group, awesome harmonys. dinner was great, we could all sit around one large table with Mary presiding at the head. Mary deserves a rousing chorus of appreciation.

the oysters depend on trhe regions....some can be an aphrodisiac...others not so...the rocky mountain oyster though is very notorious ;)

sure..we'll do it again....I'd like to do it earlier like in late September...when the weather is much better..but i think the camp charges a flat fee until the first of October..so one of the first weekends of october..first, second or third unless we can get it for the same rate in Sept. mg
