I'm sorry, I know this is waaaaay off topic - but the answers may help some parents!

My nephew and his wife live in Australia, and they have a sproglet who watches a TV show there - about a five-minute cartoon, I think.

It's called something like Big Blue Dog Goes to Bed. After watching it, the sproglet starts to rub his nose and yawn, and soon he's toddling off to bed.

I know Irish (and other) parents who would probably kill, or at least injure, for a DVD of this show. Is it available? Any Ozzies out there know?

It's just a 1 minute thing which the station puts on to show "Big Dog", a bloke in a big cartoony looking dog suit, getting ready for bed and "Miss Kim" blows him a kiss and turns out the light. It comes on at 7.30pm.

"It's time now for Big Dog and all his friends to go to bed. Goodnight Big Dog. Goodnight boys and girls."

It doesn't have anything which makes the kids sleepy. It's just a psychological trigger which cluey parents use to train their kids.

I know of some parents who have taped it and they sneakily play the tape at 6pm or thereabouts to get their kids to think it is bedtime.

Dirty Ol' Man -
The Chinese chick? I don't think there is one.

I think you must mean to Nathan.

Dirty Ol'Man -
"The Chinese chick" isn't Chinese, I think she may be from The Philippines, and her name is Kathleen. Many moons ago she was a student in the school where I worked - she is a sweetie.

Cheers

The station is

NBN TV but I can't see anything on the website about Big Dog. You could contact them and find out if they have a DVD or video or on-line video. I don't know if it is only on our local station, NBN, i.e. in Newcastle, on the east coast, or whether it is on the national network, Channel Nine.

If you are in Ireland then you would have PAL video format. You could ask your nephew to tape it and send it over to you.

The original intention behind the Big Dog Goes to Bed thing is to alert parents that the content of shows after that is classified for adults and not kids. So it's a pretty clever idea from that viewpoint too.

I've emailed the station but they haven't emailed back. I'll give it till Monday and then phone them (there's a thing in Ireland, Germany and Britain called Telestunt that allows you to make international calls to a lot of countries at local call rate), and see if they'll stream it.
