The distorted emphasis and focus on the presidential horse race has resulted in absolutely no discussion of what will happen Congress, where the control of the Senate may well change. Also, the governors races, where the Republicans are also in the majority? Since the 2000 election, 42 governor races have taken place, with 25 governor seats changing parties. Repubs currently control 28 governor seats, to the Dems 22. Everyone agrees the Dems don't have a prayer of taking back the House.

So we've all bought into the political parties' marketing hype, and only the presidential horse race matters, or for that matter, interests any one?

The Republicans will hang on to the majority, but probably will not increase it. Kerry will have a difficult time getting legislation he wants through, or anything else for that matter.

Well, DougR may be right, and I hope you are right too Nerd.

But Nerd being right won't change control of the Senate, if the other races are anything to go by. The Democrats need to win more than just Illinois to take control, because they will lose some Senate seats this year too.

My wife and I are working for Hoeffel, but I think Specter will win despite our efforts.

I too would be surprised if Specter lost, but hey--you are fighting the good fight, so keep up the good work!

The Dems will lose a seat in Georgia, if you can call Zell Miller a Democrat.

Colorado, South Dakota and Oklahoma are up for grabs, it could go either way but the Republicans are in slightly better shape.

Our former Democratic Governor, Tony Knowles, is running a very close race against our Republican incumbent, Lisa Murkowski. Lisa was appointed to her Senate seat 2 years ago, when her daddy quit the Senate to win the office of Governor. Then once becoming the new governor, he picked his daughter to take over his former seat in the Senate. I live in such a great state.

This race looks good for increasing the Democratic numbers in the Senate.
