Subject: RE: BS: Where's my Password? From: GUEST, John O'Lennaine Date: 24 Oct 04 - 10:00 PM I tried several times to retrieve my lapsed membership after I had forgotten my password. I too was assured my password would be emailed to me, but it never was, so I gave up. John |

Subject: RE: BS: Where's my Password? From: JohnInKansas Date: 25 Oct 04 - 04:02 AM When you "join" at mudcat you supply an email address. That's the only email address they can send your password to if you forget what it is. If you've changed your email, and are using a different address now you won't get it, because the password info will be sitting in the inbox of the original email account. If you haven't changed your email address, and haven't received anything, the recommended procedure is to go to the HELP page (click at the top of any page, right under the "GO" button) and ask for more specific help - or email one of the clones and explain the situation. The "Quick Links" scroll down list right beside the "GO" button includes a "Contact Us" (at the bottom of the list) that you might also be able to use to get personal handling. There have also been recent complaints about some email services taking an "incredibly long time" to deliver email. You can look at other mail you've received to see if this is a problem with your service, since most email programs allow you to check "time sent" and "time received" as independent values. John |

Subject: RE: BS: Where's my Password? From: GUEST Date: 25 Oct 04 - 10:01 AM The system here confirms the correct email address and says my other ones are invalid, so it's working to that extent. But I should probably just re-register, as WYSIWYG suggested. |

Subject: RE: BS: Where's my Password? From: JohnInKansas Date: 25 Oct 04 - 10:11 AM HC - Check the FAQ clicky, but it really would be better to get your existing registration straightened out than to just re-register. In addition, if your email addy is already "in use" at mudcat, it probably won't let you register as a "new person" using the same email addy as your old persona. To be a new person, you have to have a new email address. (Unless that's changed and I didn't hear about it.) John |
