I am seeking a decent C/F melodeon in the UK to replace my faithful but rather strident Hohner Erica. Does someone have a Saltarelle or Dino Baffetti that they are not using? Even a Castagnari if I can afford it!

Have you tried Rees Wesson, who lives not a million miles away from you? He has a website. You could google for it.

What's the market value of an Erica C/F - secondhand?

Thanks for the replies.

Mary - I have put a wanted ad on Rees' website.

John - I guess I would expect to pay about £300 from Hobgoblin for a reasonable one. Mine has internal amplification put there by Jeff Dando who also counts John K as a customer, so that should add some value to it.

Gwilyn, thanks for the info.

You describe your Erica as strident. I know that you're probably dying to acquire a new instrument, but have you experimented on the reeds on your old faithfull. I played mine for long enough to realise that the 'box' was not my instrument - and it was too loud for my purposes. I seem to recall that I could mask half the reeds to give it a drier and softer sound (more like a concertina). But that was nigh on 30 years ago. I should cash mine in and buy a set of good strings for my double bass.

Regards, John

I have an old Hohner Club in C/F which has a much nicer tone than the Erica, but it needs a bit of maintenance, as some of the keys are sticking.

But it is rather large and heavy.
