Subject: I'll Bid My Heart Be Still From: Holly Tannen Date: 12 Nov 98 - 11:36 PM Hi! I learned this song from an Ian and Sylvia record umpty-ump years ago, and am about to sing it for the first time in public. Does anyone know anything about it? "I'll bid my heart be still/ And check each struggling sigh/ And there's none e're shall know my soul's cherished woe/When the first tears of sorrow are dry." Thanks for your help! Holly |

Subject: RE: I'll Bid My Heart Be Still From: Dale Rose Date: 13 Nov 98 - 12:05 AM All I can add (other than it is a great song) is from their 1965 notes: Sylvia adapted the 19th century Scottish tune. Perhaps the fact that it is of Scottish origin may put someone else on the trail, though. Go here: Origins: I'll Bid My Heart Be Still (T Pringle) --JoeClone, 19-Jan-2010.
