well, if portents really work, Kerry is home safe. For the last 17 elections, the outcome of the last Wash. Redskins game before the election has forshadowed the results. Today, the Redskins were behind until the last quarter, when they seemingly scored to go ahead and make things look bright for Bush....but they play was called back due to a penalty which no one but the referee seems to have seen.

So, if you believe in omens.....and political referees..*grin*, Bush is doomed on Tuesday.

Don't you have it backwards Bill?
I thought I heard the announcers say if the 'skins lost, the incumbant won.
Either way, if you're sure they are right, then I'll just stay home Tuesday cause it won't matter anyway.

Not.

Nope, Augie...the announcers and the newspapers have gone over the 'history' in excruciating detail...including film of all 17 games.

Green Bay, Wisconsin has saved the world! Hooray! (.....maybe)

Hey, I'm just glad the Packers won.

Auggie, at home in Wisconsin

(which at least until after Tuesday, seems to be the temporary home of both Bush and Kerry as well)(and I never saw that illegal motion either, even if I am a Cheesehead partisan)

no instant replays anymore..and Joe Gibbs will never complain. If Kerry wins, that referee will be VERY popular...with half the country.

Yer right, Bill... The Redskins were absolutely robbed. They have been showing the play all evening on the news and James Thrash didn't move an 100th of an inch after setting. Even Joe Gibbs, who has never been one to critcize the refs, spoke harshly after the game about the call but...

...refs have been taking out their subconscious biases, envies and prejudices agains D.C. teams going back almost to the Reagan years. I can't figure it out and I'm sure they aren't doing it intentionally but they *are* doing it... Heck, they stole the game for th Gaints in week 2 of this year. Flat out theft. Smoot gets called for pass interferance in the 1st quarter when repalys show he was the one interfered with and then, with the game on the line, out guy reciever gets mauled in the endzone and can't make the catch because he is getting tackled while the ball is in the air and NO CALL??? Like what's that all about?

Same with the Bullets (Wizzards). Even with Michael Jordon on the team it still would get called for 30 fouls a night against 18 for the opposing team.

Hockey? More of the same.

Mistics? Same.

United. Same.

No, this ain't about dems and Repubs but a greneral hatred of D.C. sports teams by refs...

Bobert

Ahhhhhh, Bobert.

Just one eeeeensy, teeeeeensy, weeeeeeensy, little bitty bobble of a bad call caused all that???

tee hee. As a former member of the exalted order of the black and white shirt crowd I didn't think we had that much power. Maybe I should go back and ref some more.

Freightdawg. (tongue firmly in muzzle)

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr, freightster, grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr....

I tell ya what, them striped folks ain't too populat 'round these parts... Ain't just one bad call but hundreds of them...

Let me tell you about 3 years ago. I had my sons in laws up from Charlotte, NC fir T-Givin' and there was a Bullets (Wizzards)/charlotte Hornets Basketball game on the TV... Well, take a guess how many fouls were called on the BUllets that night. No, make that take a wild guess....

Give up?

55 gol danged fouls!!! That's a foul every minute and 5 seconds. Can you belive that? Hey, both teams were just playing the friggin game and the Bullets get whistled 55 times!!! Charlotte? 16 times... You believe that?

And that's the way its been for going on 15 years now! You can't find another city in the universe that has been so plagued by such crappy offriciating.... And it shows up in the win/loss column since there isn't another city in the entire universe with any pro sports team that has gone so long without winning a playoff game of any sorts...

Look it up.

There is a definate conspiracy going on here!

Bobert

Well Bobert, you may be right about the conspiracy. I watched the game yesterday and rooted for Washington as the home team but I wanted Green Bay to win also in order to give Bush the bad omen. I think I can rationalize that the 'Skin's can overcome a loss in a football game a lot better than we could overcome another 4 years of GWB. History will decide if that is true.

Peace........Bob
