Subject: Tune Req: On the one road midi or notation From: GUEST,Sonny Date: 03 Nov 04 - 03:28 PM I'm looking for the notation or midi file of this song. I know it was sung by the Wolfe Tones, it's an Irish rebel song of some sort. Please help |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: On the one road midi or notation From: John in Brisbane Date: 03 Nov 04 - 09:08 PM If you refer to 'Related Threads' above you'll find quite some discussion. The score is in 'Soodlum's 100 Irish Ballads' - Vol 2. I'll try to get to it tonight, otherwise I'll email a scan. Regards, John |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: On the one road midi or notation From: John in Brisbane Date: 04 Nov 04 - 10:33 AM I've done most of the notation for this song, but must admit that I consider it as fairly crappy. Does anyone have an alternative score to the Soodlum version I'm using? I'm very loathe to make changes to a printed score, unless (say) the note values in a bar don't make mathematical sense - too many or too few notes in the bar. Mind you in some publications mistakes are far from rare. Regards, John |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: On the one road midi or notation From: OldPossum Date: 06 Nov 04 - 02:03 PM John, you could always post what you have in ABC. That way someone else can look it over for errors or whatever. Alternatively, I would be willing to look at the score. I have a tape of this song as sung by the Wolfe Tones, so I can check it by ear if you like. |
Subject: RE: Tune Req: On the one road midi or notation From: John in Brisbane Date: 06 Nov 04 - 10:45 PM Thanks to all. A bad workman blames his tools - in this case I made a couple of transcription errors and am still working with NWC to overcome. We've had torrential rain in the last few days and hours, water in the roof space and a very wet kitchen floor. I would expect that many areas of Brisbane will be much worse off - my wife's sister has had her neighbours' grey water/sewerage flow back into her ground storey bathromm and toilet. When it does rain here it comes down in tropical deluges - we had 18 inches in one afternoon a few years ago. I'll get back to this notation some time after I solve my minor crises. Regards, John |

I couldn't bear listening to it again, especially not by the Wolfe Tones. |
Subject: Tune Add: ON THE ONE ROAD From: belfast Date: 08 Nov 04 - 12:34 PM Well, I for one, have got a complaint or two. I copied the above abc notation and pasted on the converter at concertina.net. The gap after the first line of notation causes problems and even when that's sorted the replay is too slow. Here's another attempt.
