I'm trying to find a list of colleges/universities in America (and Canada if possible) that run conservation based courses. What system do you use to find colleges that offer the particular course you want. It's called UCAS over here. Any help would be much appreciated

A Google search with the keywords specific to the course of study you want, including limiting the search to "edu" suffixes should give you a lot to mull over.

What kind of "conservation" do you have in mind? Environmental sciences, land management, forestry or biological sciences? The university where I studied toward a masters in Environmental Ethics has many of the above. University of North Texas in Denton, Texas. http://www.unt.edu.

Ideally what I'm after is cultural heritage and building conservation. It's for a conference I'm helping to run on conservation in the built environment.

pixie - we've got any number of systems to match students up with various colleges - most of them out to make money off the students and or their parents.

You are looking for places for course in Enviromental conservation, correct?

Looking in particular for any region of the US? I know Cronell Univeristy (Ithaca, NY) has a program; I beleive Syracuse University does as well.

In the U.S. you should search on the search term "Historic Preservation" to bring up the right kinds of schools (still use "edu" in the search parameters). And visit the National Park Service, here or here. The Park Service oversees Historic Preservation projects in the U.S. and has cooperative arrangements with universities.

Historic Salem.
Old Sturbridge Village.
New Mexico historic preservation.
Campbell Center.
NATHPO.

You get the idea....

Pixie - Where are you writing from. Don't you know that Canada and the U.S. don't have any history? :>)

Dundee, Scotland - environmental planning

...Denmark, Germany, The Netherlands - all are leaders in this area.

In Canada - University of Northern B.C.

Most universities now offer these courses but the best are in Europe.

I'm searching for courses in a number of countries, but the US is giving me the most problems (though China wasn't easy). In the UK you just go into the UCAS website and type in your keyword in course search and it brings you up a list of all the relevant university courses in Britain and all your applications etc. are done through them. I was hoping that other countries had a similar institution.

Thanks very much for all your help guys, it's given me some good leads

Pixie
