Subject: Info Req: Ring Christmas Bells

D'Cats--

Reynaud and I were ramblin' down the road recently, listening to a radio station. They were playing Christmas music, and one of the numbers that got played was a version of Ring Christmas Bells performed by what sounded like a cross between a heavy metal hard rock ensemble and a full orchestra. It was fabulous. Naturally, at the end of the set we listened eagerly for the identity of the recording. Needless to say, we didn't get the info; the dj cut to advertising, and then came back with more holiday tunes.

Has anybody heard this arrangement? Do you know who performed it?

Any info greatly appreciated!

Thanks,

V

PS--I googled the frequency, but I don't know the call letters for the station we were listening to, so I can't seem to find a playlist for Saturday afternoon...

First of all, PLEASE forgive the lateness of this reply as I was just looking for this very version of this song and I found it after an hour of searching.

The title is: Carol Of The Bells By: Trans Siberian Orchestra

Featuring an instrumental performance by non other than Metalica.

I happened to stumble upon this article that read in part:

"I have to say the worst version of Carol of the Bells is by Trans. Siberian Orchestra. It's madness and heavy metal, ratted hair, loudness, after all Metallica is featured on it. The piano pounding reminds me of the music from Eyes Wide Shut. I much prefer my Christmas music quiet and soft."

Trans Siberian Orchestra -- Carol of the Bells

Again, I know how it is searching for songs that radio DJs don't tell you the artist and title to and wish I could have seen this post earlier.

I hope I have been of some help.
