As far as I'm concerned there was more than a slight bit of difference in commitment between the two...

according to the daily sh0w

a clip from a Ridge interview, he said probably his one great accomplishment was the colour coded danger chart.
But of course he said he couldnt take all the credit as a number of other people worked months and months on it as well.

Bernard Karick, former Police Commissoner for the city of New York under Rudy Guiliani has been nominated for replacement. Senators Schumer and Clinton of New York are supporting the nomination. There is considerable discussion regarding Karick's lack of formal education and management training as to his ability to run this humongous new department. I'll add my two cents by saying that I have known well people who have been educated by street experience without formal studies and there is without exception an esoteric quality to their perception of what is: IS. Perhaps the characteristic I've observed is something of a split second ability to recognize a threat or deceit or something unsavory. It would serve him well. In addition, he is no dope and very political which he will need to negotiate his way around Washington. I hope he is successful. Many lives will be relying on him.
