Subject: RE: BS: More Surg for Sorch From: Peace Date: 15 Dec 04 - 11:26 PM Sorcha, You will do fine in the surgery. A buddy of mine may he res--well, you'll be just fine. I got a hip replaced about five years back. I asked the doctor just before the surgery if I'd be able to ski afterwards. He said I would. I thanked him very much and told him I was grateful because I had never done so in my life and I was looking forward to it. He gave me a very old-fashioned look. Keep us updated there, girl. BM |

Subject: RE: BS: More Surg for Sorch From: Hollowfox Date: 15 Dec 04 - 04:17 PM Nuisance, yes, but you have full coverage so this is the time to do it. Besides, most people try to stay out of the hospital at this time of year, so that means that the staff/patient ratio is more in your favor. Give us a date if you can, so I can get you a nice fresh !@#$-reduction candle. |

Subject: RE: BS: More Surg for Sorch From: jimmyt Date: 15 Dec 04 - 02:51 PM Well, Sorchamarie, number one, I hope you found Jo9hn's post about the guy who had to have his arm amputated because of a surgical slipup very comforting! Number 2, I feel like with just a little reading up on this surgery ( I have a copy of Ulnar surgery for Dummies) I could perform this surgery provided I can find the right insurance code. Maybe you better have it tended in Wyoming, I don't need to push my luck after last year when I espoused the whole"You too can do Breast Augmentations in the Comfort of your own Home." Looking on the bright side, the litigations seem to be coming to a close after that unfortunate incident, and the 20 or so women are at least civil although not as pleasent with me as they once were. My stock answer, "Hey anyone can make a mistake," has not been as comforting as it should have been. Anyway, better get this fixed asap. I am sure it is going to be successful. Perhaps if you call it a procedure rather than a surgery it will be easier to deal with? jimmyt |
Subject: RE: BS: More Surg for Sorch From: Tannywheeler Date: 15 Dec 04 - 12:40 PM Looking at some of these postings, it seems important to take the time limits they give you for healing very seriously. Don't give in to what will be natural impatience. (I would say just listen, but the better music is the more I want to sing. I have to NOT listen when I have cold/sorethroat/laryngitis/flu, cuz I increase my throat's down time.) Tw |

Subject: RE: BS: More Surg for Sorch From: wysiwyg Date: 15 Dec 04 - 04:24 AM Hmmmm.... bes/bud, I guess you know your ass from your elbow... but... have you confirmed just WHERE the op will be, for sure? ~Susan |
Subject: RE: BS: More Surg for Sorch From: katlaughing Date: 15 Dec 04 - 04:09 AM Years ago in CT I went through all kinds of testing to find out why my pinkie and half of my ring finger were causing so much problems. No mention of surgery, even though I had full coverage.(I imagine the techniques are much better now. This was pre-PC/Internet etc.) The docs had me wear elbow pads for quite a long time AND pay attention to when I was bumping them. (I had no idea I was hitting that nerve so often!) Anyway, it helped a lot. Only trouble is, I still have to do that...it bothers me more if I rest my arms on anything without padding. So, long story to tell you good thoughts coming your way and maybe I'll wish I'd had the same! luvyakat |
Subject: RE: BS: More Surg for Sorch From: Col K Date: 15 Dec 04 - 04:01 AM Thinking of you Sorcha, hope the op goes well. |
Subject: RE: BS: More Surg for Sorch From: Big Al Whittle Date: 15 Dec 04 - 03:58 AM sorry about that - rotten news. we will all be thinking of you. |
Subject: RE: BS: More Surg for Sorch From: el_punkoid_nouveau Date: 15 Dec 04 - 03:01 AM Another one... I had the same op five years ago (I only got to the stage where my hand was getting pins and needles in the middle of the night, and waking me up). The only lasting effect seems to be a slightly numb patch on my elbow, where they operated. It doesn't seem to have affected my playing... or improved it either! epn |
Subject: RE: BS: More Surg for Sorch From: MBSLynne Date: 15 Dec 04 - 02:37 AM Good luck Sorch! With all the healing thoughts from Mudcatters seething about, it's bound to be fine in double quick time! LOve Lynne |
Subject: RE: BS: More Surg for Sorch From: chris nightbird childs Date: 15 Dec 04 - 02:26 AM Good luck Sorch! Don't bump into anything... |
Subject: RE: BS: More Surg for Sorch From: Catherine Jayne Date: 15 Dec 04 - 02:13 AM I had the same operation on my right elbow.....if the nerve is damaged get it sorted....the longer you leave it the more chance there is of permanent damage. I left it too long and my playing has suffered. When they say don't play for x amount of weeks they really mean it...I didn't listen and now I can only play for short amounts of time. My pinkie and ring finger are still numb even after having the operaton and physio 5 years ago and I tend to drop to bow alot if I over do it. The operation over here is routine and it takes about 40 minutes or so and I was left with an impressive scar on the underside of my arm!!! I wish you all the best and I send you lots of positive energy. Khatt |
Subject: RE: BS: More Surg for Sorch From: Amos Date: 14 Dec 04 - 11:02 PM The Missus had that operation for the same reason. It was successful, but the nerve can be hit sometimes which causes pain -- it just isn't right out where it gets dinged all the time. Ask him to bury it. :>) A |
