I suppose you all have heard of the grisly murder and subsequent abduction which ocurred in Skidmore, Missouri in the last week.

In addition, this small town (population around 340) has had a brutal beating death (domestic, abusive husband) a truly strange vigilante slaying executed by as many as 20 of the town's citizens (The town bully, shot to death on Main Street, in broad daylight, in front of the local cafe) and the stranger still disappearence of a 20 year old man that has twisted sexual overtones.

I bring this up on Mudcat because this town's history seems to be the stuff that myth and mystery are made of, almost folkloric.

Skidmore needs a ballad.

CB

At the moment I think all the relatives of this tiny baby and the assassinated mother need love and support.

Ballads may follow, but for me the topic is too raw. If anyone doesn't know Skidmore, this is the story

If I want to know about the sordid goings-on in some hick town, I'll read the tabloids (fat chance). I certainly don't want to read about them on my favorite music forum.

What's next, CB -- your take on the Peterson murders?

Cheers,
Michael
