My wife has an archtop Galiano from 1939 or 40. We were told it that it could be Italian made. Isearched Italian Galiano Guitars and found several 1960 modles but nothing as old as hers good luck.

I have a Galiano MeloDia guitar that my grandfather gave to me when I was 8, I'm now 41. I have no idea how long he had the guitar or where it came from. I'm interested in finding out more about the guitar. Please email me if you have additional information.

Don, I've seen Galiano's, I was just wondering what hers looked like.
They seem to have made a number of different models.

Dear Mary V, could we have a description of the guitar? How much did it cost? Galianos were made by Oscar Schmidt(the same company that made Lead Belly's Stella).

I once had a Galiano archtop (jazz-style with f-holes) guitar. It was solidly built, with a good if not great sound. A little "Germanic" -- lots of mids, sort of brash, without much mellowness, just what you need in a jazz ensemble, but less useful for country or folk. I have better archtops, so I eventually sold it. I've never seen any others, but the company/brand does exist.

I'm not aware, but there is a "Gagliano" Korean import listed in the Blue Book Of Guitars. Would that be the one?

Mooh.
