Seriously, Clear Channel has a list of do not play songs and these are on it.

Clear Channel is the newly emerging monopoly that owns 75% of AM radio stations, nearly all the concert halls for popular music as well as ticket distribution.

That is why they are so effective in burying who ever steps out of line as with the Dixie Chicks etc.

They have the one two three punch that effectively kills anti war music.

I am worried about the monopoly of any media by one or two corporate entities, but it's well to to be wary of any specific claims.

With some due respect I dare say most of us know more about the practices of the lieing sacks of crap aka corporate lawyers at Clear Channel than the snopes author.

In the 1950's the practice of blacklisting was also described in terms of lawyer speak that did not confirm or deny the realities of this form of oppression.

Real harm is being done to
1. individuals,
2. communities and
3. the entire culture by this media group.

I could ennumerate and expound on each of these points...if pressed.


I suppose Corporate denials with caveats are still more truthful than blanket denials but I am weary of corporate propoganda in all its forms. The whole damn US is becoming one big ENRONgenous zone. Media lies that enable the theft of your parents pensions are fine but a 2 second view of a nipple is anathma.

Here is another clear channel denial that had a subsequent admission that local clear channel employees are free to express themselves without representing the Corporation as a whole:

Florida billboards sprang up showing George Bush with the phrase "Our Leader" with the corporate logo Clear Channel underneath. Clear Channel headquarters denied they existed. After countless photos began showing up on the internet, they added new spin to their denial that said the billboards may exist but they were not aware of it.

by the way, if you translated the message on the billboard into german it would read "Mein Feuher"

My tired late night point is about blatent corporate lies. I do not challenge thier right to declare W as God incarnate if they so desire. I am sick and tired of the cowardly strategy of blaming our lieing eyes.

well, I have to say I agree with you, Don...it is getting worse and takes all we can do just to keep up with sorting out the truth. I have NO doubt that Clear Channel, with that much power, resorts to a lot of pressure and intimidation to have things their way, even if they can 'technically' deny certain claims.

I always enjoy your ability to make a point in powerful graphics...If I seem to be overly cautious, it is just because I hate to be 'wrong'..
