Bloom County, Opus the penguin, and Bill the Cat! Oop! Ack!

Dire Straits and Mark Knopfler.

Bruce Springsteen.

I think they knew about it a few generations back, alabit.

The 80s are memorable for the arrival on this living coil of one Barky, who has been delighting her parents and associates ever since, on and off... :D

Wasn't Dire Straits' debut album (titled Dire Straits) released in 78?   I'm pretty sure I bought it in 79 ... and I remember they were being lauded even way back then as the "Second Beatles".

The greatest thing about that decade (for me) had to be the birth of my twin sons in 82! (Even though I spent the rest of that decade listening to Kermit, Raffi or Sharon Lois and Bram).

Yes, daylia, but the decade in which they really hit their peak was...the 1980's. Springsteen also started out in the 70's (or maybe even the 60's, for all I know).

If you check the credits on Dylan's "Blonde On Blond" record you will find Bruce Springsteen, Charlie Daniels, Charlie McCoy and many other future stars.

Apart from Knopfler and Springsteen and a very few others, the 80's would have been pretty dreary for me musically if I hadn't discovered Mr. Dave and El RayoX.
