Hi guys

I've booked a yacht to take my Cadets sailing at half-term and have a couple of spare places I'd like to fill - cos I've got to pay for the boat!

We're sailing from Gosport, Hampshire, on the morning of Saturday 12th February and returning there evening of Tuesday 15th. One night either side on board if you're travelling. I expect to stay in the sheltered waters of the Solent where there are plenty of harbours to visit unless the wind and tide are particularly favourable to venture a little further afield.

The boat is here ; it's fully certificated to MCA Category 2, and I've got the necessary qualifications (Coastal Skipper) too. There'll be a qualified (Day Skipper) Mate on board, and at least two of my Cadets, good chaps and pleasant company all.

This is a chance for all you bar-room shantymen to get some real sea miles under your belt! No experience needed, but welcome if you've got any.

The bottom line: £150 plus hire of foul-weather gear if you need it at £10 or £15. I'll need a cheque in advance. Probably two places available.

Darn, it's tempting - but I don't think I can afford a trip from California just now. I've always wanted to crew on a yacht.

I'm skint or I'd be interested - sorry - spent a fortune on doing the house up! Now saving up madly for 10 days sailing round the Outer Hebrides and (hopefully) St Kilda again, in August.

Hmm, tempting... but I guess I'll be sailing my own boat then (unfortunately, still not yet sold...anyone want/need/can afford a very nice Jaguar 27? PM for details).

I also have a Coastal Skipper qualification. We've been sailing Dutch waters for quite a while now, but I have very fond memories of sailing the Solent, where I did the qualifying course.

In a minute Steve when you charter the Maine yacht. I actually have a weekend of sailing under my belt with "Women Under Sail" here in Maine. I know port from starboard and to duck when someone shouts "Coming about". The latter, I learned the hard way.

I'd love to come Steve, and would be very useful for keeping the boat stable (!) however, my own dear boat has sprung an interesting leak around the mast and I need to sort it out before she sinks!
