A little poll here folks. What do you think is worse, some guy who once had his post deleted still moaning about it years afterwards.? Or another guy who voted Republican, and still can't stop sticking it to democrat Mudcatters?

the worst loser is someone who wont just walk away, who just keeps on keeping on.. those ones are the ones that get there.

the worst winner is someone who doesnt value and treasure what they have.

I'm not going to judge either of them, but in the case of people who do this (stick it to the people who voted Democrat), I'd say they are providing Democrats with a valuable lesson in how to behave toward those who vote Republican next time the Democrats win. It's a good strategy. Just think about how political discussion might have appeared had the Democrats thought to call the Clinton Bashers "whiners".

Hmmm, for me, the latter, but it's a hair's-breadth of a difference; might even be splitting one. :)

Anyhow, I'm not much bothered by it. Life's too short.

So the question is, "Which is worse, a gloating asshole or a whining asshole?" I say they both suck equally. If they'd both just fuck off and die there'd be more air available for non-gloating non-whining garden-variety assholes like me.

Sure, it pisses me off every time I drive by the house of some moron who still has a "Cheney/Bush" sign in his yard but, ya know what, it'd piss me off if Kerry had won and some moron still had a "Kerry/Edwards" sign in his yard, even though I voted for the guy. "Get over it" goes both ways. There's a statute of limitations on bragging rights and it has expired.

I think we should try to move beyond "sticking it to one another" and tally up the things we do like, I believe we've pretty much covered all the things we don't. I Like; Mothers, Moms are all pretty much wonderful, Dads are really cool too, I like, The smell of Verbenia and greasewood after it rains in the desert, I like sittin around with friends in a place so quiet that, when the bikes start to cool down and make that popping noise it startles you because that's the only sound around. I like playin my guitar alone or with a whole bunch of folks,..it brings me peace. I like to be the first one off the ski lift the morning after it snows a good'ur'un. I like ridin' wheelies on my Harley,..mostly because I'm supposed to be to old for that. I like waking up before my wife Lizzy does and just watching her sleep, she's so beautiful,..to this day I have no idea why she loves me, but I know she does, I really, really, like that. I like watching little kids play baseball without adult supervision, they get along so well without our help...I like coming home after a 2 or 3 week run. nothing is as wonderful as turning that last corner. I like those little bright blue flowers that spring up along side of the highway, don't know what they're called but they've lifted ny spirits more than once when I've been away from home too long. I like hangin' out with my boys and helping them work on a car/project/whatever,..I like when my Grandson sees granpa's big truck come wheelin' around the corner if I smiled as big as that little guy I think my face would probably crack..what do you like?

I'm serious! What do you like?? I'm really interested in knowing..I know we can all find common ground, but we have to try, I know a lot of you folks have put a lot of time and effort into stirring up discontent, why not create a balance and say something nice we can all enjoy?....Please!

'It matters not whether you win or lose, but how you played the game'

Why do people quote this mantra, then go on to prove that they don't mean it?
Seriously Biskit I'm interested in finding out why people bear grudges for so long, or gloat over the downfall of their enemies for an equal length of time. It's fine to go into Hait Ashbury mode, but it didn't solve anything then and it's certainly not going to do so now. If you wear some flowers in your hair, sure as hell somebody comes along with some herbicide.

Well, biskit...

I like sunny days, and I like the beautiful shapes made by clouds. I like the grace and beauty of animals and human beings. I love music and silence. I love the sound of flowing water and soft rain. I love good writing and poetry. I like the way bark looks and feels on trees, specially birches. I like guinea pigs. They're unbelievably cute. I like llamas and kangaroos.

The number of things I like is so great that it would take forever to write it all down.

John,
Haight-Ashbury (The Haight) was a beautiful happening interspersed with unprovoked violence and hatred,(think rape, drug deals gone bad, black panthers, weather underground etc.) but mostly it was a pretty cool deal as long as you didn't look too deeply. I, like you, have always wondered why grudges are held so long. William Jefferson Clinton; while he was a womanizer and a cheat, I think he had a unique vision for The United States and truly did what he believed was best for the American People, and the people of the world. As has every other president that took the oath of office for this great country of ours.Past and present. While I have never agreed with everything that our Presidents have said and done, I KNOW that they BELIEVE that they are doing the right thing for the People of The United States of America. Not everyone is going to agree with every decision. That's why we get to vote every four years, so we can "throw the bum out" if enough people disagree. We need to come together as a people, not widen the devide with half truths, or parroted phrases. If we can manage to do that, then WE THE PEOPLE will prevail. That's why I posted what I did, it was personal, it was heartfelt, but mostly it could be a beginning, it has to start somewhere man. Soooo,..what Do you like??

Somebody drove nails into my two back tires and my Dad is convinced it was because of my Kerry/Edwards bumper sticker, even though it was a month and a half after the election. I hope not--what a dumb-ass if that was the reason. It's especially dumb considering the tires needed to be replaced anyway, nails or not.

The nails were in the sides of the tires so I don't think I ran over them. Whatever. Tires are easily replaced--at least they didn't key the paint.

I've been assured many times that I am a born loser because I'm vegetarian, don't smoke, don't get pissed, argue, live in Woollo, won't lend someone money, tell someone to buggar off ........ on and on it goes. In every case I took it as a compliment. Losing is good. However a guy who once had his post deleted still moaning about it years afterwards and another guy who voted Republican, and still can't stop sticking it to democrat Mudcatters see themselves as winners because THEY NEVER GAVE UP. I'm with the losers.

Well John, like my beloved told me when I ran my first half-marathon: "Remember darling, when you cross that finish line, there's only one winner - and 10,000 losers". I love to meditate on that when things get too fluffy and "whiskers on roses/raindrops on kittens"-y. Pollyanna can get stuffed. The only path through the world today is the one paved in cynicism.

(hmm... and today is one of my good days too.)
