Subject: BS: The thread of love From: Georgiansilver Date: 23 Feb 05 - 05:05 PM This starts off as a thread of pure love....nothing more...nothing less. Love is what we feel for our neighbour....whether he/she abuses us or maltreats us or what? I love even those who attack me....am I right or wrong? Best wishes to all, Mike. |

Subject: RE: BS: The thread of love From: John O'L Date: 23 Feb 05 - 05:09 PM Of course you're right, but you'd better watch your back, nevertheless. Being right is not recognised as a legitimate defense. |

Subject: RE: BS: The thread of love From: Georgiansilver Date: 23 Feb 05 - 05:13 PM I am not defensive but attacking...I attack those who play games with lives! I attack those who think they know all the answers. I attack those who pretend they have "Mudcat" in their pocket......I attack those who....well you work it out!!!!!. Do I really need to watch my back....NO I don't. Best wishes, Mike. |

Subject: RE: BS: The thread of love From: Georgiansilver Date: 23 Feb 05 - 05:18 PM There are many people on the "Cat" who through their knowledge and previous writings..feel they have a grip on reality and truth and love...well guess what? Perhaps their is a greater power than you....no not me but certainly a greater power than you...want to try it out? Let's see where the power really comes from. Love is all. What does it feel like to be loved. Really loved.....all of you. Best wishes, Mike. |

Subject: RE: BS: The thread of love From: Little Hawk Date: 23 Feb 05 - 05:49 PM Definitely a good idea, Mike, although it will "irritate the hell out of certain people". :-) Sure thing, brother, here's a whole lot of love comin' back your way... |

Subject: RE: BS: The thread of love From: Georgiansilver Date: 23 Feb 05 - 06:10 PM Does anyone doubt that Love is everything? Best wishes, Mike. |

Subject: RE: BS: The thread of love From: Little Hawk Date: 23 Feb 05 - 06:30 PM It's everything real, anyway... |

Subject: RE: BS: The thread of love From: GUEST,Skipy Date: 23 Feb 05 - 06:36 PM The last one went by mistake! Define "real" then try & define "normal" Skip |

Subject: RE: BS: The thread of love From: Azizi Date: 23 Feb 05 - 06:53 PM "Love" is a word that is sooo overworked in American culture.. "Love" is used to refer to strong positive feelings we have for family, friends, significant others, our self & humanity in general [loving our neighbor as ourself]. We also are called upon [and many of us do]love God, and books, and music, and food, and desserts, and sports teams, and good sex, and you name it.. I remember one poet saying that we should "love all the things that make us strong" . I interprete this to mean that we should appreciate [and learn] from difficult experiences.. While I wouldn't use the word "love" there, I think the poet {Amiri Baraka/LeRoi Jones}has a point... Maybe we need more precise words to describe these emotions... I'd love that. |

Subject: RE: BS: The thread of love From: mack/misophist Date: 23 Feb 05 - 10:22 PM At the risk of being called a prick and a pedant (New Speak for a gentleman and a scholar) may I suggest a restoration of the old word "agape"? It would simplify things immensely. 3 syllables, BTW. |
|
Subject: RE: BS: The thread of love From: wysiwyg Date: 23 Feb 05 - 10:36 PM Agape Ah gah pee.... Ah gotta pee??? ~S~ |
|
Subject: RE: BS: The thread of love From: Little Hawk Date: 23 Feb 05 - 11:11 PM Agape is a good word. The main problem with "love" in this society is that it's mostly used in connection with sexual romance...to the exclusion of many other possibilities. |

Subject: RE: BS: The thread of love From: CarolC Date: 23 Feb 05 - 11:25 PM I am not defensive but attacking... Is it really love though if you're doing it to score points? That doesn't seem very unconditional to me. |
|
Subject: RE: BS: The thread of love From: Georgiansilver Date: 24 Feb 05 - 04:01 AM Attacking the lack of love shown by some....not to score points. If we all showed the kind of love we are capable of for each other then surely the world would be so much better....why not start it here?....mmmmmmm could it or would it start here? Best wishes. Mike. |
