I've heard that Hollywood is in the process of making the sequel to "Taxi Driver". And "Basic Instinct" too. Do either of those sound interesting to you ? Curious as to what Travis Bickel has been up to ? What he'll do when he gets out of the lockup ?

What should Hollywood be trying to make ? Are you curious as that what Harold has been doing without Maude ? What happened to Mr Smith when he left Washington ? If you owned a movie studio what movie sequel would you bankroll ?

Hmmm. Well, it would be kind of neat to do a sequel of "Gigli", and see if it could be worse than the first one was, I guess...

"Pirates of the Caribbean" certainly rates another go, and there is one on the way already.

Then there's "Dumb and Dumber", and "Dumb and Dumber-er". What we need now is a 3rd one called: "Dumb Beyond Anything You Thought Possible". Starring: Adam Sandler and Jim Carrey.

Funny - But actually I was trying to be serious. I think the premise of a Taxi Driver sequel is rather interesting. What kind of person would Travis Bickell be after he's spent many years in prison ? Or was he sent to a mental ward and released early ?

I've wondered how three normal guys that experienced the violence that took place in "Deliverence" would have changed as people. Are they still dwelling on what happened ? Or have they managed to bury it ? Do they even speak or do they avoid bumping into each other ?

Havn't you ever been so enthralled with a character in a movie that you wondered what happened to them later ? And I'm not talking about "Porkys III".

The movies we think of as great classics may have been innovative films, technically, which improved the storytelling; or have been based on well-told stories from novelists or fine shortstory writers, combined with well-done adaptations by good screenwriters. The policy of "take a property we own and see if we can milk it for more cash" is denying us the best chances for more great classics.

Thanks for listening. I've had that stuck in my craw for a while, now. Feels good to get rid of it.

The one that's dying to be made is The Hobbit. But that won't happen until Christopher Tolkein removes his underwear from up his crack and relaxes a bit.

Another Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon would be good. Apparently that was just one part of a series of classic Chinese stories, so there's plenty more material.

Another vote for a Pirates of the Caribbean sequel too, although they need to pace it a bit better - the best bits of the first one were Johnny Depp sailing into the harbour at the beginning and the duel with Orlando Bloom, and the rest was really filler.

A sequel to Unbreakable would be worth having too. Apparently that's in the pipeline, but see how it goes.

Another Spiderman is inevitable, but the quality of the first two mean I'm looking forward to that. Ditto X-Men.

Zorro if they have Antonio Banderas and Catherine Zeta Jones doing it; forget it otherwise. Judge Dredd if they have Stallone doing it; forget it otherwise.

And to be honest, anything with Michelle Pfeiffer in it, if she ever gets back to making films again. You can keep all your Kim Basingers and Sharon Stones and other interchangeable starlets.

I know Doug. Actually when I lived in Co. Clare there was a Team of Hollywood Folks including Don Johnston from Miami Vice. They told us they were location scouting for a remake of the Quiet Man. That was about 9 years ago now...guess that one came to nothing.
You can imagine the response they got from some of us....lol

Sorry Wesley....It seemed to me to be a great oppertunity for a giggle and well there isn't enough of that around lately.....

We've had Zulu and Zulu Yawn (sorry Dawn), how anout Zulu Sunset, coveing the Battles of Ulundi and Gingilovo?
or pehaps an accurate version of 'Mutiny on the Bounty' showing Fletcher Christian to be the whining little toad he was, rather than versions based on accounts by friends of the Christian family (strange how the pro-Christian books don't mention the mutineers going back to Otahiti and kidnapping native men and women for slaves and mates).
How about 'Objective Burma' with the 14th Army (who were there) rather than Eroll Flynn (who was nowhere near).
The Italian Job II (the real one, not the re-make) - how did they get out of that coach?
I'd like to see Len Deighton's 'Bomber' turned into a film ('though it never would be).
There are too many; What about the John Wayne character (I've forgotten his name), in the Cavalry trilogy, what happens when he went into retirement?
How did the main characters in M.A.S.H. cope with the peace of the 1950s (or the 'peace movement' of the 1960s).

When it comes to the movie 'Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl', people just love to announce that lead actor Johnny Depp found his inspiration for character Captain Jack Sparrow by looking no further than rock legend Keith Richards. Just in case that piece of knowledge isn't satisfying enough, it's been confirmed that Disney has recruited Richards to appear in the sequels to the film in more than just spirit.

The Rolling Stones guitarist and sometimes vocalist has signed up to play Jack Sparrow's father, er, Mr. Sparrow. Richards has reportedly already been for a costume fitting for the upcoming 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Treasures of the Lost Abyss'. Not only will the 60-year-old act in the second instalment of 'Pirates', but he's also set to return for the third movie.

One of the last musicians to jump on the acting bandwagon, 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Treasures of the Lost Abyss' will be Keith Richard's acting debut. Filming for the two movies, which is to occur simultaneously, is set to begin in February of next year. In addition to Richards and Depp, the cast of the 'Pirates' sequels will include Keira Knightly, Orlando Bloom, and Geoffrey Rush.

For those who somehow missed out on Depp's now infamous quote (taken from a BBC interview), here it is: "I didn't want to do an imitation of Keith, or a character study, just a kind of salute to him, you know, to show him I appreciate him. I was thinking about the pirates of the 18th century, about how they were the rocks stars of their day. So I thought: Who's the greatest rock and roll star who ever lived? And to me, it's Keith Richards hands down. Keith is a bit of a pirate himself!"

If it happens it promises to be a Hoot!

Alba: Arghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Say it isn't so! I cannot, for the life of me, imagine a successful remake of the "Quiet Man". Not without that cast, not without that Director. Cong, though, seems little changed from when it was originally shot in the early '50's. Just some added touristy stuff.

The only sequel I have ever looked forward to - and I can't WAIT - Pirates of the Caribbean!
Preferably with a large large.... damnit the word's gone. A large.... impact? focus? preference to? I hate it when this happens!
A large focus on Johnny Depp anyway - and keep the Annoying Orlando and K-irksone Kiera to a minimum yeah!?

Actually, it was that film that got me through one of my blackest bits of depression last year... watched it about 3 times a day, every day for a month!

I think they could probably stand to remake 'Zardoz'.... much as I adore Sean Connery and that leather outfit, the story was fragmented and could have been explored deeper.
