Subject: RE: BS: Lá Fhéile Pádraig Shona dhaoibh! From: gnu Date: 17 Mar 05 - 04:46 PM Lard sufferin Jaysus lads. If ye can't interpolate betwixt the lines on that one, there's no chance yer Irish atall, atall, atall. I speak about a half dozen words of the old, and I'm doing my annual corporate return and can't find $1 420.55.... that's right... I started drinking as soon as I figured out that it will never add up. And, even as wet as I am, I know it's SAINT Padraig. |
Subject: RE: BS: Lá Fhéile Pádraig Shona dhaoibh! From: PoppaGator Date: 17 Mar 05 - 05:09 PM Well, gnu, I was being disingenuous when I implied that I didn't have *any* idea what it meant. Sorry I wasn't more straightforward. I'd still like to see a complete/exact translation By the way: perhaps you'd like to enroll in my creative writing class, "Fiction for the IRS." |

Subject: RE: BS: Lá Fhéile Pádraig Shona dhaoibh! From: GUEST,PoppaGator Date: 18 Mar 05 - 01:56 PM The "secret" Rapaire alludes to is a notably Irish-American school I once attended. They currently offer Irish language courses, but no such thing was available back in the previous century, when I was a lad. |
Subject: RE: BS: Lá Fhéile Pádraig Shona dhaoibh! From: gnu Date: 18 Mar 05 - 02:12 PM SOB !!! I didn't "lose" $1 420.55... I "lost" $1 420.55 PLUS the rest of the amount that was paid to shareholders in loan repayments. I forgot to enter an adjustment to the the expense side of the retained earnings calculation which would counter the inclusion of loan repayments under expenses. The repayments must be entered under expenses because the cash on hand has to balance, BUT, when you deduct them from the liabilities due to shareholders, you have to adjust the shareholders equity under retained earnings to counterbalance. Otherwise, you come out with a difference between liabilities and shareholders equity which is, in my case, $1 420.55, less than total assets. Fuck me... nine hours looking for an arithmetical error when it was one simple error in logic. And on St. Pat's Day, too. On the bright side, I saved $800.00 in accounting fees. And I will never make the same mistake again. I are a ingineer. Now, where's all tha green beer? |
Subject: RE: BS: Lá Fhéile Pádraig Shona dhaoibh! From: GUEST Date: 18 Mar 05 - 02:31 PM gnu, Now I can see that my creative fiction course wouldn't have helped you, anyway. My expertise is limited to the beginners' and intermediate levels. You'd need a bigger liar than me to compose a workaround for your situation; tuition would probably exceed the 8 bills you didn't pay that accountant. |
