Good riddance to the bastard, I say. Unless someone is grateful for the Cold War that resulted in the defacto takeover of the US government by fascists and the entrenchment of it's empire, of course.

Read the obituary, GUEST--you are attacking the wrong guy--Kennan opposed the "Cold War" military build-up--in a lot of ways, McCarthyism was really an attack on his world view. He opposed the Vietnam war, and always stood against the unfortunate inclination that certain Americans have toward military adventurism--

If not for him, after WWII, Europe, rather being rebuilt and democratized, might have simply been turned into an armed staging area for war against the Soviets--
