This should get some monarchists in a tizzy.... the British Parliament has responded to a question from within, and has stated that Camilla Parker-BowlingBalls will automatically be given the title of Queen when/if Chuckles ascends to the throne.... the only way she would stay as Princess-Consort (Charlie's idea) is for the Brit Parliament and all 17 other countries (including Canada) that recognize the British Monarchy as their head of state to pass legistation... here's daFacts, Union Jack...

When Elizabeth visits our country, she does so as the Queen of Canada. This new twist would not bother me, because I do not recognize kings and queens. I am not anti-monarchy. I simply see no need for the institution.

Whether she was called Queen, Princess Consort, Duchess of Cornwall, Mrs Windsor, or "her indoors", would make absolutely no difference to her status, which would be that of the wife of the King.

The point which some people seem to find it hard getting their head sround is that the word "Queen" is used in two distinct senses in this context - sometimes it means the reigning monarch, as with the present Elizabeth, sometimes it means wife of the reigning monarch (or widow of a previous one), as with her mother.

Go easy on Charlie; he's part of a family of pampered, pompous mumbling heads, but from where I stand he's just about the most viable human being among them. His Da is a first-class plonker. Putty is used as make-up foundation for his Ma. I must add that I see his kid sister as something which, while one more useless entity, does have her good points. She has the reputation of greeting all press approaches with "Naff off". Aye----but in truth the first word likely begins with an "F". I'm on her side there. I used to be a rabid republican until Maggie Thatcher was elected and I realized how truly awful a "minority" presidency could be!
I mean - it's not really possible to be anti the British monarchy is it? - it's like being anti-parrots! OK - they may cost a bit to feed, seem to require careful breeding and possibly it could be said they live far too long but the bright plumage brings in the tourists and they can be trusted (by and large) to repeat the right words at the opening of Parliament (although you may want to put a cloth over Anne's head when the vicar comes round)

BTW Camilla will be the Countess of Chester which also, coincidently, is the name of the local psychiatric unit!

the other possibility is....... we take advantage in the current lack of public enthusiasm for the monarchy and have a republic. but that would take more organising.
