Subject: Lyr req: From a dustbin From: mandoleer Date: 31 Mar 05 - 07:52 PM I heard Bernie Forkin sing this one at Billinge, but by the time I got round to asking him for the words, he'd lost it again. He got it from somewhere, but couldn't remember where. Anyone out there know it? |

Subject: RE: Lyr req: From a dustbin From: mandoleer Date: 01 Apr 05 - 01:38 PM It is a great parody. Contains the immortal lines (referring to old fish bones):
From a dustbin. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: From a Dustbin ('From a Distance' parody) From: Roger the Skiffler Date: 19 Apr 05 - 09:30 AM Both Joy Buzzards ( with bedpan mandolin) and Trashcan Joe ( with bathtub steel guitar and dustbin lid banjo)now feature in the eclectic skiffle/jugband section of my record collection. Subject: RE: Lyr Req: From a Dustbin ('From a Distance' parody) From: GUEST,bernie forkin Date: 24 Mar 10 - 10:10 AM Actually I wrote it myself. I did a lot of parodies in those days usually they only had a "life" of 2/3 performances as many were topical. The one performed most was probably "The houghton weavers" which went to the "Work of the weavers" tune. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: From a Dustbin ('From a Distance' parody) From: Dave the Gnome Date: 24 Mar 10 - 12:07 PM I think I remember that one Bernie - 'If it wasn't for the Houghton bloody Weavers'? If it is the same one, I think Stve Chatterley still airs it occasionaly as well. |
