Hello all

Just a quick note to draw your attention to the Lincoln Folk Festival which takes place on Fri 29th and Sat 30th April in Lincoln.

The web site http://lincolnfolk.port5.com/ has been updated with some more details (as well as details of the autumn/winter season, and news of the Jeff Wood Memorial Concert which is planned for July).

Unfortunately I will be at the Moor and Coast Festival in Whitby.

I have already promised that the winners of the young folk festival award will be one of the support acts for Vin Garbutt on Friday the 3rd June 2005 at The Festival Hall in Market Rasen. The other support act will be Stitherum.

I do hope it goes well and that people support it well.

I think it's 12 people rather than 12 entries (i.e. some of them are in duos). I gather it's more like 8 entries. Marianne is learning the art of spin!

..and later in the evening (Satyrday 30/4) from about 8.30 you'll be able to hear "Gone to the Dogs" playing a full evening set at the Jolly Brewer, just oppsite the Drill Hall (with parking adjacent).

Muppitz, saw your thread on help for new club. Sounds a bit similar to MRFC. Doesn't Mansfield already have a thriving folk club?

Thanks Villan - we're just waiting to hear when Market Rasen Club finds anew home and we'd love to come over again!
Our Jolly Brewer gig will be our first full lenghther (2 45 minutes spots), so any advice from more experienced hands on how to sustain a) audience interest and b) our own stamina would be greatly welcome!

Joe Loss - now theres a man who knew about folk music - I think his march of the mods - mobilised a whole generation - songs like that that won the war - nowt so good these days, etc

Hi Bloke - if I read the Lincoln Festival website correctly then there is a session planned for the saturday afternoon, 30/4 from 3pm. at the Vic. Not sure about the music - guess it depends who goes!
I thought I'd drift down and get warmed up before the Jolly Brewer gig.

Well just a refresh and reminder that the folk festival in Lincoln begins tomorrow night. See their website (referred to upthread) for details.
For fans of the Barrow sessions, there will be a session at the Victoria in Lincoln (opposite the Lawns, by the Castle)on Saturday from 3pm - the music will be what we make it and there is already a whistle and uillean pipes scheduled in - so please bring some strings etc!! It would be great to see friends from up north down in Lincoln for a change!

Anybody who fancies making a day of it can also see Gone to the Dogs' first gig at the Jolly Brewer from around 8.30!
