Subject: BS: Sweep week vs. politics From: Donuel Date: 02 May 05 - 10:36 AM Its time for the US TV networks to out do each other to claim who has the biggest "audience". There was a show that I believe NBC ABC CNN Fox and CBS could have swept the competition. It was the interview of the tortured Iraqi that was photographed with the hood and wires standing on a box. The interview was on NPR here http://www.pbs.org/now/thisweek/index.html Do not expect to see a show like this next year on the National Public Broadcasting channels. The Bush administration fired the new President of NPB who had been in training for 10 years and replaced her with Carl Rove's friend and loyal Republican. Investigations and "monitoring" of shows like NOW are now tapping the budget of NPB in order to seek a more fair and balanced public TV viewing experience. That is why one can now see The Tucker Carlson show on public TV on any given day. What is sweep week going to give the American public instead? It will give them Michael Jackson, American Idol and the ABC expose' of American Idol regarding the sexploitation exploits of Paula Abdul. Sex might sell better than torture but we all know that in any horror movie they go hand in hand. That the networks passed up the opportunity to even mention the tortured Iraqi interviews probably cost them big numbers... but there are some things that transcend successful broadcasting such as the political control and ownership of the networks. ---stay tuned for the new NBC Revelations episode of the rapture run rampant at 6 flags over scripture amusment park in SC... The second coming on FOX and the Intelligent Design show on ABC (now gay free) DH |
