Subject: Tune Req: 'After the Gold Rush' with Female vocals From: GUEST,Sarah Date: 09 May 05 - 02:55 PM Hi All- I'm desperately searching for the Linda Rondstat/Emmylou Harris/ Dolly Parton rendition of "After the Gold Rush" by Neil Young. It's on the "Trio Two" album...I need the sheet music for the vocal harmonies, my accapella group is looking at doing it, but a lot of the harmonies are too subtle to pick out from the recording...any advice?? |

I would think with a little bit of work { OK - with a LOT of work } you should be able to get it. Are you up against a deadline ? When do you need to perform it ? |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: 'After the Gold Rush' with Female vocals From: GUEST,Sarah Date: 09 May 05 - 06:30 PM No deadline...the bigger problem is that I have women in my ensemble woh WON'T sing it if they don't have the notes in front of them....and the lower harmonies are very muted, especially in the third verse. It's the curse of a good blend. We have tried to chart it out, and are good with the top two lines, but the low part just isn't coming. I have to believe the sheet music's out there somewhere.... |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: 'After the Gold Rush' with Female vocals From: GUEST Date: 09 May 05 - 07:00 PM Time to wean them away from sight reading. Granted, it's a wonderful and useful skill, but sometimes singers should depend on their ears. The only way to learn it,is to do it. I know this isn't the answer you want, but it may be the path to future improvement for your group. |
