Subject: RE: BS: Moving Day Blues.... From: Stilly River Sage Date: 17 Jun 05 - 09:22 AM Moving is one of those times when you can indentify everything that SHOULD go into a garage sale but you don't have time for that now, so it gets chucked in the boxes with everything else and lost from sight for another six months or a year. Or years, like Rapaire hints. Don't kill yourselves or whack out your backs, and have a good sleep in a comfortable spot when you get there and tomorrow will look just fine. Watch out for the caffienne or you'll be so wired tonight you'll be bouncing off of the walls from the stress of it all. Good luck (and let us know when you get around to doing that garage sale!) SRS |
Subject: RE: BS: Moving Day Blues.... From: GUEST,JennyO Date: 17 Jun 05 - 10:12 AM Good luck with it all. I moved a couple of years ago and believe me, I don't want to have to do it again for a long time! Rapaire is right. There are still unpacked boxes from 2003 in the garage. Meanwhile, boxes make good chairs to start with (as long as you don't sit on the one with Aunty Mabel's crockery). Are your plants down there yet? Don't forget to water them! Jenny |

Subject: RE: BS: Moving Day Blues.... From: Bobert Date: 18 Jun 05 - 04:09 PM Well gol danged! Yup, it was purdy hairy but me, the WGSR and the P-Vine have pulled off this chapter to the adventure and... ... as I perdictercated, it has taken two hours on the phone to teck support to get this new pudder up an' runnin'... And, hey, all these keys got letters an nummers on 'um which makes fir some easier typin' since the one back in Wes Ginny is all wored out... So we is all happy livin' in this new-to-us holler... And I mean to tell ya, we is in the sticks... Can't see no one and none can see us.... Sho nuff isolated and I love it... The house is stone so I can jus' take me a gitfiddle right out on the patio affer the P-Vine goes to bed and she don't hear a thing... Do black bears like Delta blues? Nevermind that last question... Former-Wes-Ginny-Hillbilly... New-Ginny-hillbilly... Bobert |

Subject: RE: BS: Moving Day Blues.... From: katlaughing Date: 21 Jun 05 - 02:43 PM Wow, I missed this while away in hospital, I guess. It is a momentous thing to do, but can also be so exciting, gratifying, etc. A stone house? How lovely. Is it old? A porch and no one to see you. How even lovelier!! Sorry about the double-decker, though, if indeed you had to leave it. Perhaps you will build a cabin in the woods like Sibelius had? I always pack months ahead and try to go through stuff and always get rid of a All the best to you and P-Vine, etc., Kat and Rog |

Subject: RE: BS: Moving Day Blues.... From: Bobert Date: 21 Jun 05 - 10:54 PM Well, well, well... First of all, jus gettin' a post from the "kat", well, get's this ol hiollbilly all choked up.... Sniff.... Hey, yeah, the double decker bus/cottege is still back in Wes Ginny but the real estate lady knows that if someonme wants to buy the house and land without the bus that I'll bring it up here into Pine Grove holler in a heartbeat.... So lets not write no obits fir the bus yet..... Other than that one detail, we're doin' as wellas could be expected with livin' i what is soon to become a construction site... We've moved all but a handfull of plants (mostly big 'uns that have pink surveyor's tape on 'um to le4t perspective buyers know they don't6 convey...) Other than these details our hearts are no longer in a Wes Ginny holler but a Ginny holler.... Bobert |
Subject: RE: BS: Moving Day Blues.... From: Stilly River Sage Date: 22 Jun 05 - 06:34 PM Send photos! Post them to a Yahoo album if it's easier than loading Pene Azul down with them, but please do let us see the before and after. Will you be building a patio or hot tub platform or green house, or are you just doing house remodeling? We want to see the house and the grounds. How are the evenings there? Do they cool off nicely, or do they stay warm and humid? Show us the quality of life indoors and outdoors, please. I'm going to be trying out a new formula for a mosquito repellant, that involves vanilla. Makes life easier if you can go outside in the evening, and I expect you have mosquitoes and flies there like everyone else in the nation except maybe the desert southwest. I hope you are far enough up there to have escaped from one of our pests down here, the fire ant. Suckers are hot this year. This afternoon I stepped in a bed when I was filling the birdbath. Buggers nearly bit me on my poison ivy rash. It has been one of those weeks. . . SRS |

Subject: RE: BS: Moving Day Blues.... From: Tannywheeler Date: 23 Jun 05 - 06:16 PM "There are BOXES in the living room, And BOXES in the master bath; There are BOXES in the bedroom And in the hall between. There are tan ones And white ones And liquor-store ones And grocery ones. There are boxes only everywhere And I'm about to scream." And because the house is on slope, when the empties get put outside (to go back in the truck to go back for another load) I can sing "There are boxes on the hillside..." Mind your backs, Bobert. Stop early and get some sleep. This process gets to be a bit like hard work. And takes a looooooooong time. Tw |
