I just want to take a moment to thank all you folks that have kept the Mudcat Cafe open, and made it such a pleasant place to visit.

THANK YOU!

Dick,

You deserve a ton of the credit (and the thanks) from what I've seen in the short year I've hung out here. Max, of course THANKS FOR BEING HERE(and I do intend to get a check off to support the Mudcat as soon I get solvent and moved into new digs. Joe Offer, without your postings & all the lyrics & links & tunes, well, it wouldn't be the ol' Mudcat. It would be something far diminished from the fantastic resource it has grown to be. Dale Rose has helped me out with private letters and information all year long. Dale, where are ya? You've been quiet lately--Shula too.

For me, it's been a grand place for a guy who was used to being on stage to keep his hands in this folkworld we all seem to care so much about. Posting my vasssccsssilations here, even when I go off half-cocked (which is better than not going off), allows me to get my thoughts and ruminations together with a pretty huge audience. What better way to test the waters for stuff that might (but probably won't) become a book I don't feel like writing even though Cathy & Marcy keep tellin' me I've got to do SOMETHING.

Gonna cut this shorter! I could go on for hours though. But a strange guy just rode up comin' from the outback. Better go get that paddy melon stew into the microwave for him. One word of warning. NEVER PUT AN EMU EGG INTO THAT SAME DEVICE WITHOUT BREAKING IT OPEN WITH THE SLEDGE!!! For sure, I'll vouch for that one!

MERRY CHRISTMAS ALL & TO ALL ---THANKS!

Art

Dick, we may help to keep the doors open, but it was you and Susan who opened the doors, over ten years ago; and Max who put us online a couple of years ago. Thanks back. It sure is fun here, isn't it? It has drawn me away from my past life of crime and ill-will and general nastiness and ugliness and made me the good-natured, good-looking person I am today....
Well, maybe it hasn't has that dramatic an effect on me, but I've learned a lot and had a good time. What more could a person ask for? Thanks, Dick, and Susan, and Max!

Dick, Susan, and Max,

If it is not a well known fact, then let me make it one. The Mudcat and the DT are labors of love on the part of the three of you. Unless I am sadly mistaken, this venture, in no way, pays for itself. Hence, all the friendships made, music shared, laughs and happiness, good will and understanding spread; in short all that occurs here happens as a result of your kindness and interest. You have provided a venue that goes far beyond the simple sharing of songs. Go back and read some of these threads, and you will find an amazing testament to diversity of thought, and sharing of feelings. You will find people who play not a note and people who are noted in their fields sharing a thread and contributing to our community each in their own way. It is a world wide community which demonstrates the amazing potential of the web.

So, it is us who have benefitted from your labor of love who owe the thanks, and not the other way around. I appreciate your comment and accept it with the graciousness in which it was offered. But I must take it, multiply it by the number of lives The Mudcat/DT has touched, and shoot it right back to you.

All the very best,

Mick Lane

We all look for ways to make our mark in the world. Most of us never do outside of a small circle of friends. Others go on to fame and fortune. Still others are regarded as making a tremendous contribution without fame and fortune being their goal. Dick, Susan, and Max - your contributions have had an incredibly positive effect on all who come in contact with the Mudcat/DT. In a word - We appreciate you. Thanks.

I haven't been around long enough to know who all the wonderful folks are who created and keep alive all that is the Mudcat Cafe. What I do know for certain is that I have received the gift of long lost musical memories through the kind efforts of the owners and guests.

THANK YOU ALL EVER SO MUCH. MAY THE FUTURE BRING ALL THAT YOU WOULD WISH FOR YOURSELVES.

Blessings, Reta

Special thanks to Joe, Dick and Alison who always there in a heartbeat with the answers. Oh, Big Mick too.

Thanks v much to all who run Mudcat, and to everyone who contributes to the threads & to the database. Since I have been visiting I have been given good advice and encouragement on how to refurbish my old guitar, how to approach songwriting, and how to enjoy performing without worrying about every little thing. Mudcat is a wonderful community, and being a part of it has given me personally the confidence to go out and sing and play and just enjoy it (I could get addicted tho). It has also allowed me to pass on to my father the lyrics of a song he thought he had lost forever - When Joneses Ale Was New - which he learnt at the top of a Cherry tree as a boy, and had for years hankered after the lyrics of. Big macho stomping thanks to everyone!!!

Kris

Thank you all. It has been a great pleasure to find a place where all can find a home, long may it continue to be so.
