Are any Mudcatters coming to Saddleworth? The festival is from July 15 - 17th, and we've got a good line up hopefully. Can't do a blue clicky thing, but the website is www.safra.org.

If you are coming, I'll be in the Festival Office - and mine's a Jamieson's!!

I've been recruited on Bar/Catering duties, but they won't keep me there all day!
I'll be out and about at some point!
Hope the weather behaves this year (although where I am now it's raining cats and wotsits!), shoes were almost lost in the ever present mud on the campsite last year!

Thanks for the web link Mr Happy - and yes, of course you can come and camp without having to buy tickets. Our campsite is brill - very attractive, and well sorth a visit!

Cara won't be appearing this year, but I'll definitely be booking them again in the future as I thought they were great, and they worked so hard! But we have got 2 groups of very talented young musicians - Heyfeva and Kerfuffle.

Don't sell out of Jamieson's before I get some Muppet!

Chris Harvey and myself will be back by popular demand - or so Alio says and I believe her - doing another workshop on the songs of Harry Boardman in the Commercial Hotel on the Saturday afternoon

This year we will be including some of the "Manchester Ballads" that Harry used to sing as well as some that he didn't! "The new tune - or rather the ORIGINAL tune - to "The Calico Printer's Clerk" is proving very popular with audiences wherever we've sung it so please come along and have a listen and a sing.

My workshop's on building a traditional song repertoire and source singers, more participative this year so I need old and young "thy praises sung_____" fill in the missing?

We'll be there - our first Saddleworth festival - If it's anything like as good as the Crossed Keys then it'll be a great festival. Might attend your folk songs on the internet session Nutty.... is there much more to it than "digital tradition" and "google" though?!

.....did some stuff last year (and the year before) in fact the electrics went off at Friday concert last year and I carried on without the aid of PA etc....a feat which sould have put me in for an OBE or knighthood but for some reason I'm not there this year!!!! enjoy yourelves folks..will see most of you around over the summer.

It's a cracking festival, we've been to everyone so far and always had a brilliant time, however we got festival burn out and are taking a year (at least) out, with the exception of the Whitby and thats onyl because we have a caravan there. I'm sure Ali will manage without me and Christine to talk to, it'll give her more time for supping Jamieson's !

I shall be there sometime on Friday afternoon,(armed with every posible type of anti- mossy treatment). Hoping that the weather will prove kind but it is St Swithins Day.

Fi-in-nz, although, obviously, I introduce people to Mudcat during the workshop, it is only a very small part of what is now available on the internet.

The reason why I split the workshops
- dealing primarily with SONGS in one and TUNES in the other -
is that it had become impossible to deal with both aspects of folk on the internet in one hour.

If you want more info, I'm not difficult to find, someone will point you in my direction.

Roger, sorry, the programme should have been available on line, but we had a blip!! I'll be in the Festival Office from lunchtime on Friday, along with several hundred programmes, so come along and see me there! And thanks for the mention of the programme - Colcannon were brill to interview! They made it so easy - and hilarious! Their Meet at the festival should be well worth going to.

Nice little place is Saddleworth, geared up for tourism normally being high in the Pennines not far from Holmfirth/Huddersfield and Oldham

Approachable over the bleak/notorious Saddleworth moor, M62 or I believe A62 from Huddersfield.

Lovely village with pubs and clubs and food

but this weekend also music and dancing in the streets and various venues

Worth a look?
