Subject: Saddleworth Festival From: Alio Date: 05 Jul 05 - 10:22 AM Are any Mudcatters coming to Saddleworth? The festival is from July 15 - 17th, and we've got a good line up hopefully. Can't do a blue clicky thing, but the website is www.safra.org. If you are coming, I'll be in the Festival Office - and mine's a Jamieson's!! Ali |

Subject: RE: Saddleworth Festival From: Mr Happy Date: 05 Jul 05 - 11:10 AM Is it possible to attend & just pay for camping?, as we'd only want to be attending the fringe activities such as sesshes & sinarounds. |

Subject: RE: Saddleworth Festival From: Mark Dowding Date: 06 Jul 05 - 03:10 AM Chris Harvey and myself will be back by popular demand - or so Alio says and I believe her - doing another workshop on the songs of Harry Boardman in the Commercial Hotel on the Saturday afternoon This year we will be including some of the "Manchester Ballads" that Harry used to sing as well as some that he didn't! "The new tune - or rather the ORIGINAL tune - to "The Calico Printer's Clerk" is proving very popular with audiences wherever we've sung it so please come along and have a listen and a sing. Cheers Mark |

Subject: RE: Saddleworth Festival From: GUEST,Roger Ramsbottom Date: 11 Jul 05 - 05:19 PM This will be my first Saddleworth. The web-site doesn't give any information on who's on where and when. Hopefully there will be a programme available with maps. Will there? Where do I get one from? Rammy Ps Just been listening to Ali's excellent folk programme on Radio GMR. Now, I'm as excited as an excited thing with something very exciting to look forward to. |
Subject: RE: Saddleworth Festival From: GUEST,Raggytash Date: 12 Jul 05 - 09:15 AM Roger It's a cracking festival, we've been to everyone so far and always had a brilliant time, however we got festival burn out and are taking a year (at least) out, with the exception of the Whitby and thats onyl because we have a caravan there. I'm sure Ali will manage without me and Christine to talk to, it'll give her more time for supping Jamieson's ! |
Subject: RE: Saddleworth Festival From: nutty Date: 12 Jul 05 - 01:37 PM I shall be there sometime on Friday afternoon,(armed with every posible type of anti- mossy treatment). Hoping that the weather will prove kind but it is St Swithins Day. Fi-in-nz, although, obviously, I introduce people to Mudcat during the workshop, it is only a very small part of what is now available on the internet. The reason why I split the workshops - dealing primarily with SONGS in one and TUNES in the other - is that it had become impossible to deal with both aspects of folk on the internet in one hour. If you want more info, I'm not difficult to find, someone will point you in my direction. Hazel |
Subject: RE: Saddleworth Festival From: Mrs.Duck Date: 12 Jul 05 - 03:02 PM The weather is booked not too hot but dry, maybe a quick shower on Friday but none on Saturday. Right now thats that sorted. |
Subject: RE: Saddleworth Festival From: Alio Date: 12 Jul 05 - 05:49 PM 12 String Growler - the hug's yours next Xmas!! Roger, sorry, the programme should have been available on line, but we had a blip!! I'll be in the Festival Office from lunchtime on Friday, along with several hundred programmes, so come along and see me there! And thanks for the mention of the programme - Colcannon were brill to interview! They made it so easy - and hilarious! Their Meet at the festival should be well worth going to. Mrs Duck - thank you so much for the weather update - I may sleep easier the next 3 nights!! Nick, I shall STILL miss you both terribly!!! Ali x |
Subject: RE: Saddleworth Festival From: R. Padgett Date: 13 Jul 05 - 05:16 PM Nice little place is Saddleworth, geared up for tourism normally being high in the Pennines not far from Holmfirth/Huddersfield and Oldham Approachable over the bleak/notorious Saddleworth moor, M62 or I believe A62 from Huddersfield. Lovely village with pubs and clubs and food but this weekend also music and dancing in the streets and various venues Worth a look? Ray |
Subject: RE: Saddleworth Festival From: Alio Date: 13 Jul 05 - 05:47 PM Thanks for that Ray. Yes, Saddleworth is a beautiful place - and still in Yorkshire!!! Just had the last committee meeting, and the phones ringing constantly! Ali |
Subject: RE: Saddleworth Festival From: 8_Pints Date: 13 Jul 05 - 11:17 PM Hi Ali, Will see you on Friday: we're coming as Shellbacks and look forward to singing in the rain again (NOT)! Bob & Sue vG |
