Many Mudcatters like to talk about language, so here goes -

I just read a book called "The Practical Geologist" by Dougal Dixon. It is a good book for anyone who wants to learn about geology or bring their knowledge up to date.

From it I learned what a clint is.

1. Take a bed of limestone.
2. Let it be broken into blocks by sets of joints (straight cracks).
3. Let the blocks be rounded by erosion. Let the cracks be widened.

The blocks are now clints and the cracks are now grikes.

Most people have heard of the actor Clint Eastwood. Now I'm waiting for an actor named Grike Westwood.

My mom will be so proud... Though I think I can say that Guinness has more to do with me being 'rounded' than erosion
