Subject: RE: BS: Portrait I call 'the smirk' From: GUEST Date: 09 Jul 05 - 05:54 PM I like it. Wish I could remember the name of the painting that Zeus is from? At least it looks like a small bit from that painting. No, brains racked and no result. I do remember that syphilis is humanly portrayed in it. Maybe I imagined it. |

Subject: RE: BS: Portrait I call 'the smirk' From: Bobert Date: 09 Jul 05 - 09:41 PM Ahhh, Donuel... Like I hate to say this but as an artist myself, "The Smirt" seems a little on the smirkless side... Evil? Yeah... Smirkless... No.... Sorry, just one guy's opinion... Bobert |

Subject: RE: BS: Portrait I call 'the smirk' From: GUEST Date: 13 Jul 05 - 10:43 AM mack I think you're right. I was thinking of the Allegory of Venus and Cupid. But having checked it out, it isn't Zeus. All these grey bearded guys look alike! |

Subject: RE: BS: Portrait I call 'the smirk' From: Donuel Date: 13 Jul 05 - 01:47 PM Thanks but Bobert is correct. The Mussolini like smirk was not achieved. The smug frown was changed to a grin of sorts. I stole Michelangelo's Cistine Chapel ceiling painting of God reaching out to man and placed one outside each of W's ears. "from Bush's ears to God's hand" There is a huge skull looking out from this poster which one might not notice. I've edited this same picture 4 times over 2 years and still have more changes to do. If this were done in oils it might be considered art but since it is done with photoshop overlays and smearing techniques it remains culturally in the same catagory as an Elvis on black velvet. |
