Subject: BS: New Enemies List: Goldberg's top 100 From: saulgoldie Date: 15 Jul 05 - 12:10 PM http://www.mydd.com/story/2005/7/6/16128/65032http://www.mydd.com/story/2005/7/6/16128/65032 Curiously enough, despite the fire-breathing rhetoric among the right that has fanned the flames of open hostility and their wreaking destruction all over the map there are only about three in the list who are NOT Liberals, more or less. One of them is a murderer who killed an abortion provider. Most of those on the list are guilty of no more than shooting off their mouths. But it seems that the things they are saying are somehow desctructive, whereas calling anyone who defends abortion choice a "murderer" or who opposed the insane war in Iraq anti-American is just "telling the truth." How can you even TALK with people who see you as pure evil without even knowing you? Are we supposed to just shut up and say nothing? |

Subject: RE: BS: New Enemies List: Goldberg's top 100 From: saulgoldie Date: 15 Jul 05 - 12:24 PM BERNARD Goldberg, that is. And he has NEVER had a seat at MY family table, never. (We don't talk about that branch of the Goldberg family; too embarassing and painful.) |

Subject: RE: BS: New Enemies List: Goldberg's top 100 From: Bill D Date: 15 Jul 05 - 12:32 PM what a VERY strange list! You start reading lists of liberals, and then run into Judge Roy Moore and Jimmy Swaggert... and *I* think #99 should be in the top 10! |

Subject: RE: BS: New Enemies List: Goldberg's top 100 From: robomatic Date: 15 Jul 05 - 06:31 PM just took a look at the book today in my favorite Anchorage bookstore. There was just enough humor in it to make it a palatable read. Wasn't offended by it, just figured for most everyone on the list who was 'left' there was a 'right' analog just as irritating who await their inclusion in another book. I'm not familiar with the author unless he's one of those voices you hear on the radio but don't connect it with a name. |

Subject: RE: BS: New Enemies List: Goldberg's top 100 From: GUEST,G Date: 15 Jul 05 - 07:15 PM Bernard Goldberg was a reporter and producer for CBS news for 30 years. Winner of 7 Emmys. Once rated by TV Guide as 1 of 10 most interesting people on TV. I recommend his book "Bias", 'A CBS Insider Exposes How the Media Distort the New'. He tried for years to get a more even approach to the news without success. He was against "entertaining trumping hard news and illustrates one of the biggest stories of our time and why you didn't hear about it on the evening news. While you may not agree with him politically, and Bias is not in that stream, it will however alter forever how you view ALL network news. |

Subject: RE: BS: New Enemies List: Goldberg's top 100 From: Ebbie Date: 16 Jul 05 - 01:45 PM I too read 'Bias'- and the thing I remember most clearly about it is the fact that Goldberg came across as unlikable, self-pitying, vengeful and envious and with a great lack of insight. My guess is that he isn't really that bad in real life, but you gotta sell that book... |

Now thats what I call free speech! Anyone who doesn't agree with the status quo had better start yelling or we will see the end of our democratic freedoms and be branded as enemies of the State. And here I thought it was my patriotic duty to cry foul. |
