According to British pundits , Bolton could be seen as a leader of a "modernisation" faction in the UN.

In much the same way as Blair has sought to divide old and new Europe in the EEC.

One of the oldest and most effective tactics ...Divide and rule.

If Bolton is successful, expect to see an emasculated UN forced to do the bidding of the powerful Western countries allied to China and Russia.

The reason?...to safeguard energy supplies.
Looks like in the future, if we want another countries oil, we just walk in an take it....Authorised by the United Nations of course.

It could be a good thing. If enough other countries get tired of the US being the only major superpower, they might join together and form a superpower of their own to counterbalance the lopsided power equation that now exists between the US and the rest of the world. Bolton just might be the man who can scare them badly enough into doing it.

I think Bolton looks very familiar .... he is a strong resemblance (though older) to Patty Hearst's fiance at the time of her kidnapping. I beleive his name was Stephen Weed.

Our forces in Canada have worked on peacekeeping operations under UN command authority. We have had two of our generals disobey UN orders because the orders were stupid. Too much politics, IMO. Bastard nations using the UN for their own agendas.

There is NO surprise here. President bush (I refuse to capitalize his name) has known for five years now that HE IS GOD! He is an out of controll President. He's scary. He will do anything he wants, anytime he wants, any way he wants.

It's times like this that I really fear for not just my country (America) but for the world as well. None of the expected controlls built into our system of government seem to work anymore.

An ambassador is supposed to represent their country to another, or in this case, the UN. He should do a wonderful job of representing his Goverments forign policy to the rest of the world.
