Anybody else go? I immediately left for a week at the beach and am only just getting back online... fascinating!

Which one? There appears to be more than one. At least the dates of the one I found at http://www.nationalpowwow.com are different.

Nope, but I went to the Cape Croker (Ontario) Powwow last weekend until the rain chased off us fair weather eventers. Good fish, good dance, good dress. Not enough quality vendors, but that's improving lately. They were honouring their war vets. During WW2 the reserve pretty much emptied of eligible men, and the few left were there to participate.

Nice to hear their language spoken, songs sung, drums sound. Took the younger family members and friends for some cultural exposure, and they loved it. Highly recommended.

Peace, Mooh.

I'm leaving thurs to drive out to San Diego, but am planning to stop off in Oklahoma & in Arizona for Pow Wows. I'll see family in Oklahoma. Then in Arizona, after the nights last dances about a couple of clocks in the AM some of my pals like to stay up & jam. No one ever complains about my Bodhran & pennywhistles in the wee hours there!

I may have had the dates wrong - I went on the 13th, but I'm not sure if that was the first day or when it ended. Way cool - all the different nations in their different regalia, lots of vendors (I liked the tshirt that said Got Custer? Oh yeah!) and very interesting attempts to modernize/bring the young in, Indian breakdancing is worth seeing. I wish I could remember the rap song about They came with rifles in one hand and a Bible in the other... and once again, my Mom and I picked the same small thing to be utterly faschinated by within the panoply - the Navao code talkers. There were three of them, all 80 - 90 years old or older, very very VERY interesting.

We were in Alaska when the Shoshone powwow was held. Instead, we visited Saxman and other places and supported native artists with our purchases (oh boy, did we ever!).
